Bought my first ever bike over the weekend off FB Marketplace for $200 and taught myself how to ride decently in about 3 hours. Quickly found out these factory plastic pedals can’t grip my shoes when wet, even if their existence depended on it, so I’m looking into buying either a set of composite or metal ones. The stock commuter-style grips also twist around a lot, and I will also look into a locking set. Please leave some suggestions for both, and I look forward to improving as a rider. And to anyone else scouring the depths of cycling subreddits, it’s never too late to pick up and learn a new hobby, even if you’re someone like me who didn’t know how to ride when they were a kid and wanted to start in early adulthood.

  1. I’ve rode this bike since 2021 and love it dearly. Recently upgraded to my first road bike but did my first 50 mile ride on the dual sport and it handled it very well. Enjoy the new ride!
