A friend sent me some photos of a used 2018 scott sub cross 30. After some research it seemed like 2018 model. It has altus groupset.
I want to use it for commuting, 2 mile each way to work. The bike is roughed up and is being sold for $450.
Is this a good bike for commuting?

Ok for commuting depending on what type of commuting. A suspension fork is wasted on a commuter. Bikes at this price point the forks are really heavy and don’t work great anyways. That said you can do a 2 mile commute on anything.
That specific bike is quite overpriced seeing that comparable new bikes are currently selling for $500-600.
Edit: Finding something that fits should be goal number 1. If you share your location we can give a better idea of your local market to help steer you in a direction to either save $ or get a better bike
