Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a bike for my wife – she's a reasonably comfortable urban cyclist – she will use our cargo bike to take the kids to school, and will use the local bikeshare scheme, but is keen to have a bike of her own (and who can blame her!).

Budget is around £1K. Must haves:

  • Reasonably lightweight (i.e. less than 10KG) – for storage she'll need to be able to bring it through our house and manoeuvring a heavy bike is just a pain in the ass
  • Broad range of gears – we have some 10-12% hills in our area
  • Flat bars (she says she doesn't want drops, though not sure how her position may change over time)
  • Looks good
  • Can be bought from the UK, through Cycle Scheme.

Main use will be road and light gravel trails.

I'd been eyeing up the Tokyo Bike Bisou but looking for other recommendations.

  1. Cube Nulane would be an option I’d look at, it’s basically the flat bar version of the Nuroad gravel bike (which I own). Only negative would be Cube stock can be patchy at best so finding a seller in the correct size may be a process.

The Nulane Race is 1099RRP and comes with Shimano Cues 2×10 which gives a very large range, along with decent tyres for road and gravel stright out of the box.
