Restored my 1996 Haro Group 1 Si. This was my first BMX restoration. I’d love to do a freestyle bike next.
I tried to keep it as original as possible. The cantilever brakes were toast… seat was replaced with genuine Haro used stock.
Unfortunately, late in the restoration, I discovered original one-piece cranks and chain wheel & ring were toast. Replaced them with Haro Lineage 3-piece cranks and sprocket which necessitated buying new 9/16″ pedals (New stock Haro/Fusion).
Pad set is reproduction (very nice) and reproduction decals were procured from “Re-Rides” (highly recommend).
I planned on giving this bike to my son but decided against it as I can’t bare to see it abused again. :-). bought him the new 1984 Mongoose Supergoose reproduction (chromoly frame and forks, very nice). He’s a bit too young now, but I look forward to taking him to the pump track soon!
I’m very pleased with the end result.
