here’s a check for whenever you’re ready oh and it looks like they already included the tip great sorry actually tip isn’t included but I only ordered like $35 worth of food and the total is almost $50 now how is that even possible actually you’ll see it’s detailed there at the bottom there’s a 10% service fee a 5% restaurant recovery fee a 5% fee to help us go green a 3% credit card search charge which you could avoid if you want to pay in cash and then of course 10% tax then why not just raise the prices I mean if I’m going to end up paying that much anyway I’d rather know upfront instead of have all these hidden fees please don’t shoot the messenger those decisions are well above my pay grade excuse me can I have the check please we Madame the lunch special is 1350 so then that comes out to like 15 something then no madame it’s just 1350 oh do you not have any tax of course we have taxs Madame but it’s included in the price what seriously

  1. Same in Finland. The price you see is the price you pay. And we have no tipping culture, it's a part of your JOB to be kind and helpful for the customers.

  2. This would have been a much better video if both final bills would have been roughly the same but the American one is $50 and the French on is €15. That is the propogandist slight of hand.

  3. The real difference is not that in the US the prices are higher because of these taxes and fees (they are not), but that someone in France has no idea how much of the bill was for taxes and fees that the restaurant owner has to pay. It is hard to argue you would like them lower if you do not know how much they are.

  4. The commercial scam is legalized is in America where nothing is real and you have to be alert since they are creative in always finding new methodes to scam you. Oh, even the smile is not real.

  5. This is another race to the bottom. If any restaurant listed the full price then stupid people would think that restaurant is more expensive and go to the one with the lowest listed price.

  6. If I owned a restaurant in the US, I would pay my employees, the actual prices would be on the menu so no surprises and tipping* would be at the discretion of the customer and it would be split between everyone at the end of the month because running a restaurant is a team effort. These rules are ridiculous.

  7. Nah if I go to a place and there is absolutely anything on that check other than tax and I'm not the one that gets to decide whether or not I leave a tip, I am calculating the tax I am paying exactly the food and the tax and I am never coming back to that place again.

Y'all actually put up with this garbage?

  8. As a Brit, I'll never understand why the US doesn't include sales tax on the prices listed in shops/restaurants etc. Makes literally no sense. Only country I've been to that works in that way

  9. These fees are extremely rare… I think. If I would ever see several fees like these, I'd make a fuss to the manager and never will return to such a restaurant.

  10. Indian restaurants are like american, even food delivery apps. Plenty of additional charges, sometimes they are about 25 to 50 percent of the actual food bill

  11. Whats funny that in my experience in the UK, tipping actually offends workers. Like when I was on the first time going to mcdonalds without an adult, i tipped my worker and she got so offended.

  12. I very rarely eat out at a sit down restaurant here in the States for this very reason. I’ll order and then pick it up myself and no, not leaving a tip for picking it up myself either.

  13. I HATE how places do that in the USA. It just sets people up to be angry and sometimes even tip poorly because they didn’t budget for all that. Just charge what it is and put the tax IN THE PRICE! Sheesh.

  14. A 5% restaurant recovery fee, a 5% fee to help us go green.. what's that, a f*ing fundraiser? 🤣 that's how the US are "the land of possibilities" for enterpreneurs. Close the restaurant and go get a job, you beggar 🤣
