Tadej Pogačar, a young prodigy at 27 years old, has just won the Giro di Lombardia for the fifth consecutive time. He has been dominating world cycling for the past five years, getting closer and closer to Belgian legend Eddy Merckx. But he’s far from being the only champion in Slovenia. There, competition and sport in general are almost a way of life.

So sports become um I think in their life they do every day. And if they become successful and very good cyclist, that’s just a world record. It’s the hardest thing to do, but when you do it, it’s you can’t compare it almost to nothing. Sister is, let’s say, quite a phenomenon of this sport. She’s breaking a lot of records now. She also made the longest ski jumping flight uh till now and still she has really some potential to even to improve herself and also right now the brother is also the world record holder. Please, this government uh doubled the investment in our uh uh sport activities. And second, we have several incentives in place to secure uh for example professional uh champions when retiring from the sport career with either uh their employment in the public sector also a special pension program and system in place.
