Added fenders, rear reflector, mudflaps. It's "complete," but still unfinished:

  • B&M Luxos headlight beam is optimized for road; too narrow for dirt. Will probably get a Sinewave.
  • Should probably wire up a taillight.
  • VO Flat Pack front rack has a lot of stack height (bulky hardware at rack/stay interface). Mounting the fenders required raising the rack for fender clearance; basket is now so close to the cockpit that capacity is seriously limited. Aaaand the front fenderline is still off, as the front of it contacts the underside of rack. Debating whether to A.) shell out for a more low-profile rack, B.) just cut off the nose of the fender and line the underside of the rack with a sheet of plastic, or C.) notch the fender to clear the funky rack hardware. Will probably attempt C, eff it up, and default to B.
  • ENE friction thumbie's D-ring loosens with every shift and needs a little torque every once in a while. Super annoying; I don't notice it's loosening until a downshift "fails" and it snaps back up a gear. Might try a little plastic washer between the ring cap and the lever, plus a little mild loctite on the thread. Or just accept defeat and mount an indexing shifter pod.

Everything else is working perfectly. Front rack-strap gives me great peace of mind. The mudflaps are cut from a $3 square of rubber from the hardware store. I use the dropper all the time—both commuting and getting sendy. Kooky cockpit does all my favorite positions. I never think about the tires, wheels, brakes or drivetrain, other than how much I love the feel of the big old plastic DiaCompe brake levers. The little strap on the right grip is my parking brake, which is seeing more use than I thought it would.

I love this bike I like to ride it all day long yes I do.

    I think the only person on here more serious about hydration is that one all-city with the copper pipes.
