We stay nearly a week in Lorient, France and enjoy this fun city with its great music, food, and sailing history.

[Music] After Concano, we made our way to the city of Laurian and we booked it here for 6 days as we needed to pull the boat out of the water. [Music] [Applause] Chip and I are celebrating the 4th of July in Laurian in how cool is that? Yeah, we’re at the pub by the marina has a live rock band playing America playing American rock which is [Music] [Music] sign. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] I can Christ liken. [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Don’t be [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] before she went. [Music] [Music] Long city man. [Music] [Laughter] [Music] Don’t call me [Music] [Music] So I leave [Music] the boat, [Music] baby. Oh no. [Music] did not know what I was ordering. It turns out to be some kind of welk. Yeah. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Here [Music] we are getting ready to go into the submarine museum in L’Oreal, France. Used to be a German Ubait base during World War II. Not sure what make this submarine is, but we’re going to find out. [Music] Back back [Music] back Back back. [Music] [Music] [Applause] mingling harness and tether. We have all of these things. We have all of these things on board. And I’ve even just bought a bucket exactly the same. Very similar to that. Yeah. And various amounts of power generating and a water maker. No doubt there. Small one. Yep. We flying speedy turn. [Music] There are numerous virtual reality sailing games to play. All the panel solar panel. Yeah. Yeah. Not cheap. Very good. Chip is impressed. over here. [Applause] Well, we’ve left the marina where we would been based the last few days in Laurent and we decided to go to the nearby Il Duo um for a sale. Um, so we’re thinking about staying overnight here. Looking at the anchorages, but the winds are fairly high at the moment, so they’ve been about 28 knots. So, we’re hoping we can find shelter, otherwise we’ll be heading back. And we did have to head back. Uh, it was just too windy and we couldn’t find a suitable protected anchorage. So, here we are going back to Laurent. [Music] It was very good weather for sailing though. [Music] While the boat was hauled out and Chip was working on the rudder issue, my job was to clean the hull of the boat and prepare it to uh raise the water line a little bit. See, Jim has given me the dirtiest job in the world. Scraping all the barnicles off and I’ve got mold down my shirt everywhere. And I think the hole looks pretty good though. Yes. Most of the silicone has survived pretty well. Uh where straps go seems to be okay. Uh we had some chemicals go down a toilet. Looks like they’ve dissolved the silicone. Um, so we have to watch out for boat cleaners and stuff like that on this uh product, but it’s wiping clean. Sue. Yeah. Yeah. Hard work. The little bar just the slime. Yeah. This is 2 months in the water. You’re not looking too bad. invented on the 3 and there was nothing on the keel, right? Keel was so 2 and 1/2 months. 2 and 1/2 months. The very bottom. Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me. But the rest of the keel looked nice. [Music] The hole looked really nice when I finished cleaning her. [Music] Then we applied masking tape to the area where we wanted the water the new water line to be. I then applied a few coats of antifoul uh just the standard type. [Music] It wasn’t a perfect color match, but it didn’t look too bad. And finally, after a day out of the water, she was back in the water and we were on our way to our next destination.
