So, I am training for a half Ironman and want to do a top-level time. This has been my bike for 10 years, which was a gift from a relative who didn't ride. I can hold 35 km/h at the outdoor velodrome on it. But both cassettes are completely worn through.

I'm open to buying something new. Almost bought a Merida reacto and a BMC team machine. But decided to wait and seek more advice first.

Should I just get the cassetes fixed? Is the Merida reacto a good option? Or something else?

Thanks

I think you deserve a new bike. After 10 years you’re allowed to do that. I don’t know if you’ll have excessively more performance, but it will generally feel better. Also pay attention to the geometry and compare.
E.g. bike-stats.de is good for comparing
