For my latest video I partnered up with Amanda and David from the Mammoth Tuff Gravel Race. We wanted to show some of the differences between Mountain Bikers and Gravel Bikers. At the end of the day we all just love having a great day on the bike…just as long as our tires aren’t TOO fat. 😂
you know I wish my bike was a little bit more rigid on the climbs I kind of wish we had a little bit more travel for the downhills wait they come in full suspension you know 20 miles on a mountain bike that’s a pretty big day on the bike emails and a gravel bike is a pretty normal day handlebar size 800 millimeters or bust about 4 20. I’ve got so many pockets [Music] yeah we like our entire skin but not too when it comes to tires for a mountain biker the bigger the better just as long as they’re not too big because we don’t want people thinking we’re fat bikers you know yeah fat tires

I like my gravel bike, but I understand the concept that its a marketing ploy.
I think that the way people use MTBs, and the information we have now thanks to the internet, has allowed MTBs to become hyper-specialised to the point that they're no longer that useful outside of their niche.
A 90s MTB was at home everywhere, because marketers wanted to be able to sell their bike to everyone. Nowadays you can charge a premium for a specialised bike, and know full well that it'll sell to a good sized audience. Gravel bikes today are for people like me that want a bike that isnt hyper-optimised for either, but feel at home anywhere. I never want to look at a shortcut and think "nah, that'll wreck my wheels" or "I'll spend most of that route on my arse", and I never wanna feel bogged down by all the weight of mega tyres and suspension whilst I'm road riding.
My 1992 Trek 970 is still cool, it's just too small for me (16.5" is too small for any 6'5" rider, my seat post is comical), but it's a neat piece of history (last tig welded USA made bike trek made iirc) that I can't justify parting with. I'd definitely take it if I was only riding trails, but for mixed surface or road only I'd absolutely take my Cannondale Topstone 4 – bigger wheels, great gearing, drops, its just loads of fun to ride!
Anyway, thats my piece. I'm always going to optimise for fun.
Put the joy back into the hobby and stop chasing numbers 😁
Gravel bikes are so freaking weird and pointless to me. I really don’t understand the purpose.
Hey now… go easy on the fat and plus tire kids. Two Bucksaws, a Farley EX8, Fatboy, Beargrease, Blackthorn on 27.5 x 3s, and a 27.5 x 2.8 Liv in the house.
I do both, learn to adapt and adjust to the nuances of cycling. I absolutely love MTB and Gravel riding but in the end it’s all a racket. lol!
The only people who hate on gravel bikes are elitist man bike douches.
Love my mtb, doing 100km,on tar roads sometimes really comfy, feels even better on gravel roads, just awesome.
I have a 2012 Hard tail 26". About to add some drops and call it a gravel bike.
Don’t ride stock bars, ride bars cut for your height and reach…. Or risk longterm damage to your shoulders and catching bars trees….
You know,20 miles on a mountain bike is not a big day, that's an easy day..been riding almost 55 years.20 miles is just a warm up… Peace
He dresses to the left…
I bought a trail bike and it came with wide tires and was slow and hard to ride. I put xc tires on it and it flies and I don't get worn out.
lmfao that fat tire take
I went from banana seat, to BMX, to 10spd, to hard mtn bike, to hardtail. That's good enough. I'm not trying to go pro or stroke my ego.
I just serviced the Indy XC forks on my late-90s Trek 7000zx.
So…A gravel bike is a hard mtn bike with bars from a 10spd?
I’m literally the 3 ways you making laugh of jejejee but gravel is my greatest love ever
Fat tires rule!!!
I want a gravel bike with fat off road tyres cause I have a mountain bike now and I love being able to go everywhere also I ride on road and downhill a lot so I want to ride on/off road
Tempted to put drop down bars on my Mtb lol
Get a cross country bike, they are great for climbs and have travel too😆
These idiotic arguments about which is better, a Gravel or an MTB Chelyok, are literally the same bikes. Only one has a Baron handlebar, while the other has a straight stick and a slender wheel. But with this comparison between Gravel and MTB, I forgot all about the cross-country class. It's just as fast in a straight line as a Gravel and has the same maneuverability and shock absorption as an MTB.
Gravel bikes are gay.
Gravelbikes look coolest of all. I know this is a dumb reason but it works for me. 😌
If you don't have a fatbike in the quiver you ain't black!
That girl ain’t doing no 80 miles on a gravel bike 🤣
Gravel bikes are for people with zero skill.
I put 2” gravel tires on my MTB and it’s great to be able to enjoy a relatively smooth ride and be able to get on some loose trails when called for. And I have front shocks.
Brother, you are having fun with bicycles…and I am a Bangladeshi and I am getting tired..no wish is fulfilled..gravel bike mtb is not available in our country😊😊
I'm literally STILL confused… why is a Gravel bike better than a hybrid??
I have front shocks on my hybrid with nice tires. So it's it just the handle bars that differ? I swear i was on the Cannondale website this morning
If I want to go fast, I'll take my aero road bike. If I want to go far and uphill, I'll take my road bike. If I want to go nuts on some trails or visit a bike park, I'll take my Trail/Enduro bike. If I want to go on an adventure, go bikepacking, do some winter training, or just ride to work, I'll take my cyclocross/gravel bike. If I want to suffer or just ride to the cafe and get looks of admiration by older dudes, I'll take my vintage road bike. And if I want to hurt my back I get on my BMX bike. Now I know not everyone is as crazy as me and wants to buy or own so many bikes, but the thing is, if I could only have one bike, I'd almost certainly choose the gravel bike. It is almost as fast as my road bike, but it is significantly more comfortable. It can fit a rack, and mudguards and is just so much more versatile than any other bike I own. It's not really good at anything, but it gives me a sense of freedom non of the other bikes I have come close to.
N+1 collect them all
Aaaannnnddd there it is the jealousy of not being a fat biker….. meanwhile I ride 45mm on gravel, 2.4 enduro ,2.2 XC, and and and 4.2 fat tires, and if you caught it an American going from metric to Imperial measurements lol
Gravel bikes are perfect for people who want speed, but the streets where they live aren’t so good (my scenario). In this case, you have a option to use tires a little bit big, more resistances, and comfortabl
Fatbikes are ok , come on 😂
Kinda went full circle of corporate BS
dirt is play riding, day at the spa…
