I have a set of elite wheels purchased directly from them. It is originally microspline and I’m changing to HG. I contacted elite to confirm it could be changed and what free hub to get. Everything I see who’s it should just twist into the hub but mine doesn’t. I tried putting the original back in and it does the same thing. Just spins with a gap like the photo and won’t pop in or set I guess. Any suggestions on what I can try besides just spinning it

Get a rubber band or string, wrap it around the gap and tighten until the steel pawls retract enough to slip the freehub on. Remove the band/ string and carry on 👍
I assume you tried pushing it in while twisting (in the direction of a back pedal)?
