What setup did I use for my 600k and 11,000 mters of climbing road bike pegging trip in Slovenia this summer? I of course ran my Trek Checkmate. I speced with the 40 mm Pirelli PC tires for the extra comfort and because I suspected a lot of bad tarmac. Then I ran the Stram red XPLR group set with a 42 to chain rig up front for all the steep climbs. I used the tail fin aluminium rack, but I put on a clamusen duffel 25 L, a very lightweight one, and I ran an Epidura frame bag, big bottles of course for hydration. So, yeah, that was my setup. It all worked out really well.
