A tire has expired when it starts to deform, or show the structural threads under the rubber, or when it starts to get punctures a lot. Otherwise just keep riding!

That is utterly cooked. I consider the GP5s to be worn when they start to square off. So, probsbly half of your mileage.

Yea that looks done. It’s flattened off pretty hard. I’d be replacing it.

Replace it.

You really missed the opportunity to call your thread “How tired are my tires?”

Well, the TWI are definitely gone and that’s when Continental says they should be replaced.

That’s an amazing good life span. But, and to encourage apple to apple comparisons, tire life span should also include *revolutions*. This is because the same tire, in a larger diameter, will outlive the smaller diameter. A 40-406 Schwalbe Marathon Racer appears to have a usable life of ~4k km.

Not a single response about the dimples. The are two dimples on the tread. If they are still there, your ok

All of the GP tires have wear indicator dots on them. I’d say those are already gone on this tire but just for future reference.

Where’s the tyre wear indicator? Your tyre has it for sure. If it’s gone, time to replace. The side of the tyre will say TWI where you can find it.
