Our joke, of course, is that a flat bar gravel bike is a hybrid bike; some people miss that we mean it as a compliment to both kinds of bike.
The rise stem and swept back bars on an otherwise baller build lead me to believe it’s probably for an older customer who can afford the nicest stuff but maybe doesn’t ride very aggressively. No shade just encountered this type of thing a lot working in shops.
That said flat bar cyclocross bikes are super sketchy fun. I had an aluminum trek crocket I ran as a flat bar singlespeed and it felt like a giant bmx bike on mellow flowy trails. Never weighed it but it was definitely under 18 pounds without fancy parts.
