A six-day, late-October tour in western Colorado. A little less than half was gravel. In the higher country there was a lot of traffic from hunters, but on Disappointment Road I went hours without seeing another person.
Ha! I’m fixing to post that paved leg from Orchard Mesa to Gateway and Nucla as a Colorado “bucket list” road ride in a couple of days. Unaweep Canyon is fantastic and weird!

Thanks for posting. I rode almost this same route a few months ago on a motorcycle. It was a beautiful ride but more than once I wished I was on my bicycle to better be able to take it all in!

Awesome ride!
Fun fact: The name comes from Mormon settlers realizing the soil in the valley was too poor to farm. My Grandma grew up out there but spent much of the year living with friends closer to Redvale so she could attend school. Oh and as a kid I occasionally got to ride along with my Grandpa as he delivered mail to the few families out that way. It was an all day event.

That’s a terrible name for that valley unless there’s something I can’t tell from your pictures. It looks amazing
