25.4 wouldn't fit… still to big. Yes, I made sure the seat clamp wasnt previously overtightened by gently prying it open. Still a no go. Took it to my uncles machine shop, reamed the seat tube to true 24.5, which went super smooth and only took off a few thousandths. Ended up turning down a 26.0 post I had down to a hair under 25.4 to match. That way I could return the cheapy amazon post I used as a guess size. Also the 26.0 was a nice vintage fluted one that would have otherwise never had a use. Super happy with the outcome and there is still plenty of meat on the 26.0, especially for my skinny ass. Fun little projects like this beats fast cheapo parts all day. Super grateful for the resources I have. Best fitting seatpost out of all my bikes for sure!

This is some spectacular work and raises you up x-biking god tier. People will start coming to you will projects now.

    Bravo!

  2. Love it!! I miss having a lathe at work, was able to turn my headset adapter down for my french bike oddness, made a chainring bolt/nut for my cranks, and was planning on making a seatpost like this too! I don’t want to pay the extra to get a fitting lightweight post, and would rather buy an inexpensive one and fit it.

Impressive work. Couldn’t help but notice your hoodie drawstring dangling while you were standing at the lathe. Be careful dude!
