South of France Travel Diaries: biker friendly, great food, boating adventures

I’m still dreaming about our beautiful bike rides in Nice, France! I’m normally an Asia person when it comes to international travel but I was so impressed with the South of France that I NEED to go back. I think what I loved most about it was how easy it was to get around and explore. Coming from LA, I’m always impressed with how other cities make things so accessible.

I didn’t show it in this video because I wanted to enjoy my friends wedding but Cotignac was also such a cute, tiny town. If you end up driving to Gorges Du Verdon, I’d recommend a nighte there (and you can drive to Marsaille from Cotignac if you need to catch a flight).

I wish I had explored Antibes and Menton but I anticipate we’ll be back.

[Music] This is our biking video today. [Music] We are biking right now. Didn’t get to bike in London, but we’re biking in the east. I wanted to show you guys this view. How Beautiful is that lots of drama. I’ve just caused a lot of chaos on this trip, but we’ll talk about that later. We’re currently trying to find this restaurant that we’re looking for. [Music] from tomorrow to Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Yes. Yes. The perfect. Awesome. Thank you so much. Mercy. So, changing it. Bye. So, the tea is I rented a car for the whole week that we were here cuz the wedding that we’re going to is in Provence. So, that’s where we have to drive to. And I did not bring my driver’s license. And because I had already paid in full for it, they could not change it over to Brian’s name. So, we use a third party app. Yeah, we used a third party app because it was cheaper. Hopefully, we can at least get a refund cuz we can’t at all use the booking that I had. But we rented a boat on the Gorge Duon and we can’t go tomorrow because we don’t have a car. So, fortunately, we were able to reschedu it to when we need a car on Tuesday when we also have to go to Provence. So, actually ended up working out a little bit. So, instead of driving around for the next few days, we’ll stay local, explore the area. But look at how cute this street is. Oh my god, the view of biking was crazy. Brian and I are going to miss biking in Paris or in France so much. I feel like LA or in our area in the arts district, we could easily do this. So, you have the street for cars. parking is normally next to it. You have the bike, then you have the pedestrian way. Like I It’s just so easy. So easy to do. It’s so cool. Good morning. Today we are going to EZ and then to Monaco. We’re going to Uber to EZ, which is supposedly a very beautiful like mountainside town. And then we’re going to Uber to Monaco. And then to save money after spending thousands and thousands of dollars on this trip, we’re going to take the train back to Nice. I don’t know if you can tell, but my face is up right now. I don’t know. This started in London. I have no idea what’s happening. I’m trying to like actually not put a lot of makeup on, especially these days where I’m just wearing a bunch of sunscreen, but I definitely have to see an esthetician when I get back. But I wanted to show you basically what I’ve been carrying in my bag since London and now France. Obviously, phone. Obviously, phone charger. If we wanted to go into the famous casino in Monaco, you have to bring your passport. So, I don’t normally bring our passports when we’re walking around, but today I do. And then I have my mini wallet. Uh, in terms of product, we have hand sanitizer. We have this um sunscreen spray, which is really nice. So, that’s easy to apply. And then we have obviously um face stick sunscreen. And then it actually has been pretty comfortable lately, but I got this fan. And that’s basically it. What’s in my bag? And this bag is from Charles and Keith. Very cute. This is actually my f I’ve had this for a long time, but this is my first time using it. All the important stuff gets put in the zipper. All the other stuff can just kind of like float around. Hey, wait. Where’s my chapstick? My favorite chapstick. I think it’s really interesting that a lot of the videos I see about niece are just like hanging out on the beach, which I can do, but as a couple, Brian and I just like it’s not something that we do. But there’s so much more to do around here and to explore besides like hanging out on the beach. But okay, we’re going to do that. Hopefully, we’re not too late to beat the crowd. And ooh, my water. Also, what I love about this hotel we’re staying at, the AC Hotel Venice, is that not only do they give you these huge bottle bottles of water, but you can refill them every uh at every floor at a refill station, which I love. [Music] Oh, cute. Well, that makes me very happy. The coffee shop, too. Something cool. I opened this coffee shop 2 weeks ago. No way. That’s why it makes me very happy that you stay the place and everything, of course. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely has to be four months to open this place. Wow. Congratulations. That’s amazing. I’m so glad we got here before the crowds. [Music] So different. So pretty. So this is the famous casino that’s in James Bond movies. Very pretty in here. This is as far as we can go without paying. If we wanted to go into the casino, we would have to pay to go into the casino. But I don’t I don’t think we’re going to gamble today. So, 37 minutes. [Music] Okay. After laundry, we are going to dinner. It is Sunday, so basically everything is closed today. So, we’re just going to eat upstairs. Trying to wear all the outfits that I rented. And I have I bought these shoes. Simon Miller. They’ve become my favorites and they’re actually quite comfortable. They’re a nice little kitten heel. I Harold. Honey, can you pronounce You know what I’m saying? The brand. This is all right. So, we’re going to eat and then we’re going to lounge on the beach tomorrow. [Music] This is legit river rocks. [Music] Just go in. Just dunk your head. [Music] How was it? Good. Not bad at all. Is it sand in the waters? It’s still rocks. It’s still rocks, but it’s better. It’s our last uh day in N. Tomorrow we drive to Provence for the wedding. And I’m super excited about tomorrow cuz we rented a boat. We have to pick up the car, which I don’t think I’m getting a refund. Haven’t heard it from Haven’t heard back from anyone. But honestly, after wasting money on that high tea in London for $250, I don’t mind losing $250 on a car cuz that was my mistake. Something I could have prevented. We finally got a car. It’s cute. Ah, car. Oh, we’re 6,000 miles from home. Sorry. Ah, watch out, girl. I’m so relieved we have a car. It didn’t honestly didn’t even occur to me. I needed to bring my driver’s license. did not occur to me at all. Now I know now it won’t happen again. Just realized we haven’t done a room tour. So we’re at the AC Hotel in Nice. This is our room. We have a corner unit not facing the ocean, but we have this really pretty garden. Um and these windows are insane because it’s really bright outside, but you can’t even tell. Good light, but not too hot. I actually really like this location. We have the closet. We have the bathroom. The only thing I hate is these like really like these half shower curtain things. I hate that. Like I said, I’ve really liked this location. It’s not like in I guess where like maybe I guess it’s not considered like city center exactly like it takes us a 10-minute bright bike ride to get to those places. But I like that it’s close to the bikes. I like that it’s not super in the chaos, but it’s still really convenient to get to places. And when we do come back, I definitely would not mind staying here again or if we have the money, one of the very very fancier hotels. But uh this is I think a good price point for the location and The saints [Applause] [Music] ready for dinner. Wearing the dress that I wore for my 20th high school reunion, as well as my shoes from the other day. I didn’t bring any hair tools for some reason. So therefore, the hair is back cuz the braid the bangs are crazy. And our very last meal in Nice was at Laon at Hotel Negresco. And I am still thinking about that as gargoy. [Music] Is it scary to drive? Oh, so this is as fast as it goes. Yeah. So, we’re driving into the gorge right now. I was just a kid when I met you, honey. Working on my day dreams down but wishing you’d come and save me. If only I have a time machine. Heading back. It is almost 11:00 and it’s getting so crowded that we didn’t want to go too far in. Have a hard time leaving and being late for the return. But this was for me 100% worth the windy nauseous drive for sure. All right, after 14 days, we are back home. I think this trip made Brian and I realize that we’re not really like long travelers. Anything over I think 10 days is a little bit too much travel for us. H feels good to be back. But I think actually I understand why people vacation in Nice. Like Nice was probably my favorite place that we visited. I think mostly because I just really like the community of not only is it like on the beach so it’s sunny and beautiful, but also just the biking and it felt so safe to bike. I I don’t know that was Well, we’ll get into like my favorite and least favorite things, but I I absolutely loved that. I do wish we had more time in Nice so we could kind of explore further up and further south like go to like Sanrope and stuff like that. But next time I actually do have a very exciting update that the company that I originally rented our car from, which I didn’t bring my ID, so they couldn’t refund me. They actually did end up fully refunding me, which I thought was very nice of them. I didn’t push the issue. I emailed them and explained the situation, but I wasn’t really expecting anything just because like it was my fault. But they were so nice in offering me that refund that I really really do appreciate them doing that. I think if you do end up visiting Nice and want to go to EZ, definitely include Monaco in that because Ez is a very very tiny town and if you don’t have any reservations for like breakfast or lunch at the hotels, they’re not going to let you walk in. So spend the day or spend the morning in EZ maybe leave by 10:00 because that’s when it gets starts to get crazy and then go to Monaco for an hour or two because unless you’re like spending money or watching rich people spend money you know I feel like you don’t really need need to spend that much time there but from EZ to Monaco and then you can go to Metton Menon Menon Menton is something that I wanted to go to but it just like we needed to go back and do laundry and all the things But um that Menton is the one with like the beautiful kind of viral staircases I believe. So you could all do that as Monaco meant in one day and have that be a day trip. So, I think if you’re trying to go to the south of France, Nice is a really great like stay location because it’s kind of easy to access any place up north and then also south to go to like Sandra Pay or Antibes, which or is it Antibes? Things that I absolutely loved spending money on were renting the bikes. That was awesome. Obviously, very affordable and it was just like a really great way to see the city. also loved renting the boat. The food was actually really good. Sometimes you just need like a good f. So, there was a fur place that was right behind our hotel and after kind of weeks of traveling around Europe, it was really nice to have Asian food and they were actually pretty busy. Really, really enjoyed the south of France. I 100% understand why people vacation there every summer. I really enjoyed it. And that is definitely a place that I would love to go back to.
