A very famous website, filing under "bike hack", suggested to attach a voile strap on the helmet to secure the sun hoodie over your head while riding.

The trick sounds like a good idea, but thinking about how helmet works is case of a crash, a compression between two vents holes and a f*cking metal hook sitting on your head is all but a good idea.
How is even possible to be so naive/ignorant by giving such bad advices.
I asked the author for clarification, but no answer.

it looks to me like the hook is pointing out, not into the head? I also don’t understand what you mean by “a compression between 2 vent holes”
Also in the event of an impact that rubber strap will cause friction, whereas you want your helmet to be able to slide upon impact
I mean some voile straps have metal buckles metal, but that one in the article is plastic
Bike light mounts fit the same way on helmets.
All of the things likely to kill you in an accident I doubt it will be a voile strap holding your hoodie.
The strap hook is on the outside of the helmet, pointing outwards. Not sure there’s much of a risk there, anymore than the hardware already on a helmet. That’s also one of the nylon Voilé strap hooks, not metal.

You are way overthinking this… most helmets are literally a chunk of styrofoam, that is made to compress upon impact. A soft rubber strap at a few pounds of tension is completely negligible to this. Also, most people in the bike world are using the Voile straps with nylon buckles.
Maybe you guys should take up a safer sport, like sleeping or something…

I dunno, this doesn’t seem any more dangerous than camera or light mounts on helmets.
I would recommend that you relax a bit. The stress this is causing you is probably statistically more dangerous to your overall health than the strap.
Don’t be discouraged, being able to think this way is a valuable tool for self preservation. Likely you and people and round who take you seriously will live longer and will be prone to making fewer bad decisions.
That being said probably not worried about this particular hack.
