So dumb… you dont need the teflon tape, it's pointless.
All you need is a good assembly grease.
It doesnt even look like this content creator knows the difference on grease and is probably his main problem. This isnt the person you want touching high end bearings either.
Anyone notice the title of this video talks about making it easier to remove a PRESS FIT bottom bracket? When did they start threading press fit BBs? I do agree threading a press fit would ease removal, but the teflon tape is stupid.
This technique works great at preventing water leaking out of the frame. This it key when you need to carry as much water as possible for self-supported endurance rides.

This works great on threaded bb's to stop creaking. 👍👊
Never ever had a problem with a threaded BB…
pressfit in the description but the bb he installed is threaded
1st time I see this 😂 I usually just clean thoroughly & grease well before screwing in and never an issue
Gorilla tape is better, the hairs prevent lactic build up in the left fork leg.

He’s afraid water will leak out of the BB
WTF this is danger, please flag
You forgot the silicone.
This isn't needed and not to spec.
Congratulations, you now have a bunch of PTFE tape between the bottom bracket face and frame face.
What is worse than no information, is bad information….. here you see it being demonstrated for your visual enjoyment.
Yeeeaaah?… Is this a carbon frame?
Just here for the comments. 🍿
Bet it still leaked…should have used a brass olive 😅
I just use gold or silver antiseize. With less torque than spec
Is that legal ?
I see the mistake, you accidentally published your april fools day video in August.
Trolling
😂😂😂😂😅
I just use copperslip.
Is that red lock locktite? Gonna crack the frame trying to get it back off.

What, you going scuba diving ?
Grease, yes. Plumbers tape, no.
Threaded BB’s do not creak when installed properly.
But hey… good luck with all that 😅
carb. frame and bb, the dream
This is beyond moronic.
loctite bro or else it'll Creek
Basically treating what is supposed to be a precision fit component like it is a piece of water pipe with an NPT thread.
Click bait.
Dumb!

Зачем тут фумка? Это ж велосипед, а не водопровод.
I only use JB Weld. Never fails. Ever.
Grease is more than enough
i tig weld mine to my carbon frame.
Why put something into a BB assembly that doesn't need to be there? There must be something wrong with his shell.
Big error method
Just greased threads will do. Think about it. Plumbing tape? Why? High water pressure? Nope.
Amb cinta de teflón??😮

What a load of malarkey
