Hi everyone, this is Polin, and it’s the second day of my Paris trip. Today’s goal is to visit four must-see attractions in Paris using a museum pass: from the Invalides to Notre Dame , from the Bastille to the Louvre. If you’re also planning a trip to Paris, you definitely can’t miss this video! Good morning everyone, it’s the second day in Paris! Today’s itinerary is very packed, so let’s continue our tour. Little Pig says that starting today is a two-day
(Image source: Official website) museum trip! Piggy ‘s Travel Pass Itinerary : Yes~ Let’s start using this pass! This golden domed building is the French tourist attraction, the Invalides. Let’s ride some Dott bicycles in Paris. Piggy will ride an electric scooter there! Unlocked! Riding bicycles in Paris, these bicycles are somewhat electric. You pedal lightly and it provides some power assistance, which is quite fun and saves energy. Ride to the place where you can return the bikes. When you rent bicycles here, be sure to check the app. There are some signs indicating the areas where you can park your bicycles. Don’t park randomly, or you might get fined. This is the entrance to the Invalides. You can use our museum. Pass through here. This was built by order of Louis XIV as an asylum to house wounded soldiers and retired troops. Historically, a famous event occurred here: before the French Revolution, the Parisian masses first came to this asylum and seized a large number of weapons and cannons, which enabled them to successfully storm the Bastille. Therefore, this place is considered a very important and crucial point in the French Revolution. And now, we can see a statue of Napoleon . After his death, he was buried here at the Infirmary. Later, we might visit his tomb. The Infirmary has so much history that it’s divided into many sections. We just visited the ancient weapons and armor here, so we want to visit the purple area later, the domed church, and the tomb of Napoleon I. Walking into this domed church, it’s magnificent. It’s very tall with many beautiful murals. The statue of Jesus in front of us is also quite spectacular. From here, a small staircase… You can walk down to the entrance of the underground mausoleum. These two figures are generals of Napoleon. Napoleon is laid to rest here. Now it’s time to tell a story to Piglet again. After Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo , he was initially exiled to a small island in England , where he died. It seems a king said he was a hero of France and must be buried on French soil. Using many connections, Napoleon’s remains were eventually brought back. Along the way, during the visit … I saw many French military cadets visiting the mausoleum ; it might be a required course for them. I thought the mausoleum was quite good ; it seemed like his comrades from the battlefield were all there. Although I’m not particularly interested in history, once you’re in the atmosphere, you feel like you could learn something. I highly recommend it. If you’re traveling independently, I suggest it’s definitely worth a visit. You can use the museum’s name . Then you can come right in! Little Pig, let’s go have lunch now! Little Pig: I’m hungry , hehehe. We’re back at the restaurant Willa took us to yesterday. We just had a short wait, about 10 minutes, before we got a table . I think the waiters at this restaurant are quite friendly to foreigners . They knew we were foreigners and were quite willing to talk to us in English, so ordering was quite smooth. They even have an English menu. The restaurant is so busy! This is the closest we are to the next table; there’s practically no way we can pass each other. I think it’s quite special. Little Pig ordered hot chocolate, and I ordered an apple. My friend and I ordered the famous duck confit when we entered the restaurant. It looked delicious! Duck confit is a very famous local dish in France. The waiter accidentally dropped the potatoes I ordered, but he immediately brought me a whole plateful . There was so much of it that I shared it with the foreigners at the next table. We had just finished eating and left the restaurant. I highly recommend the duck confit; it was so delicious! One serving cost 18.5 euros, which is about 630 NTD. My friend also highly recommended the chocolate. The bill for the two of us was about 45 euros. Now we’ve come to this restaurant, which Willa also recommended, to buy some delicious croissants. As soon as we walked in, it smelled amazing ! My friend asked , “Is this an apple pie? It looks…” “It’s delicious! What did you order? ” Little Pig: “Croissant !” (Little Pig is checking if it’s an apple pie) “One croissant is 1.3 euros , and one apple pie is 2.1 euros. You can pay by card. Wow, look at the color of this croissant, it’s baked so beautifully and it’s super big! Look, eat, eat! Willa says it’s very crispy . (Did you hear that?) I heard that sound! Croissants have to be oily and crispy to be delicious. Wow, the airiness inside the croissant! ” Little Pig’s satisfied expression , I can tell from his eyes, means this is great ! After we finish the desserts here, first we’re going to visit Notre Dame Cathedral. What we see in front of us is Notre Dame Cathedral. It was destroyed by fire and then rebuilt , but since last year… The square near Notre Dame Cathedral had already reopened to the public, and it was incredibly crowded ; it seemed like you had to queue to get in . Some queues were for people with reservations, while ours were without reservations, so the queue was quite long. However, it didn’t seem to take too long ; we just joined the queue and slowly made our way in. Looking up at Notre Dame from below was truly magnificent . The sculptures were incredibly beautiful and exquisite ; it’s hard to believe it’s over 800 years old and survived a fire, but the reconstruction and restoration are quite good. This area requires a separate fee, and we spent about an hour enjoying the spectacular views inside Notre Dame. Visiting so many churches in Europe, and walking into Notre Dame Cathedral gave me goosebumps for the first time. Now our next stop is the Bastille. Walking into the Bastille feels like an underground bunker. After you enter, they will give you a tablet. You can scan this tablet, and it will provide some guides. There are many languages available, and you can also choose Chinese. You can use the tablet to scan this screen, like an augmented reality (AR) device. You can point it at this… It ‘s an environment that shows what this place used to look like. I think it’s pretty cool. Watching the little pig walk around with this tablet looks like he’s playing video games. This scene takes us back to 1378. Back then, it was a banquet hall, so it wasn’t always a prison. It also had its glorious moments. Little Pig: Treasure!! Oh, little pig has found the first treasure ! Keep exploring! You still have 4 treasures to find. Little Pig: I just… Oh no, I just missed one ! (Korean) So you’ve passed through many scenes, there are treasures everywhere. The guided tour here is very interesting. After the indoor introduction, we go outdoors. Now we’re walking this path , the path where Queen Maria Theresa was taken to the guillotine . Bastille Prison. This itinerary is pretty great, it’s like a game-like guided tour . Kids can treat it like a game, and at the same time they can learn about the historical stories behind it. I think adults can too. It’s so much fun! I really think the Bastille Prison is a huge success. Look at our dog, he’s so focused on finding treasure! He ‘s not usually this enthusiastic about history, but now he’s seriously researching the stories and history here to find the treasure. We think the Bastille Prison tour is really fun, I highly recommend everyone to come! If you’re bringing kids, I think they’ll have a great time too. You can use the Museum Pass to enter, so you don’t need to buy extra tickets. Now we’re going to visit our last important attraction for today. What’s the little pig? The Louvre! Yeah~ We’re going to the Louvre! Our reservation for today is 5 pm. You can buy your Museum Pass in advance. Then remember to book a time slot on its official website. What you see in front of you now is the Louvre Pyramid! I finally saw you in person ! We just successfully went through security at the Louvre. They check bags for dangerous items. We’re currently on level -1. Let’s go see this French Malibu sculpture first. If we go up one level, there’s an ancient Egyptian artifact, which is the highlight of this floor . Then we’ll see a European sculpture. And then up there… Mona Lisa’s Smile . Mona Lisa’s Smile is definitely the highlight of the Louvre, along with the pig. We ‘re currently queuing to borrow an audio guide, but it costs money, so we’re buying tickets here first. These two tickets in my hand are for the audio guide, each worth 6 euros. This audio guide looks super cute, like an electric one, and it even has Traditional Chinese! Oh, and this is a Nintendo 3DS, so cool , hahaha! Some of the exhibitions here in France are really cool , they all use these kinds of equipment . Now we’re ready to go! We’ll see the Mona Lisa’s smile soon! I often saw this painting in textbooks before. That concludes our Louvre visit. We stayed from 5 pm to past 7 pm, which is great for the nighttime… Taking photos at the Louvre Pyramid is quite beautiful, but seeing the Mona Lisa’s smile was more exciting. Today it was finally my turn to see it, and luckily, there weren’t many people , so we quickly made our way to the front. Each floor has some must-see exhibits, and I highly recommend renting the audio guide – it’s fantastic! While you’re exploring the exhibits, it also explains their historical background. Just a heads-up about the Louvre’s opening hours: since we visited on a Wednesday , it closes at 9 PM. There’s also another… They’re open until 9 PM on Fridays, and then until 6 PM on other days, except for Tuesdays when they’re closed . The reason it wasn’t crowded today is probably because they’re open until 9 PM, so I’m sharing this information with everyone. Tonight we’re going to a French snail restaurant. They have a golden snail on the table. The atmosphere is great . The snail dishes, onion soup, bread, and dipping sauce are delicious. Little Pig said he can make the onion soup too; he says it’s snails, but it’s more like snail meat. Our first snail experience was pretty good. We just finished our first French snail meal experience. This time we ordered a mixed flavor snail meal for a total of 12. The snails come in three flavors : pesto, truffle, and cream, but they’re a bit pricey. My friend and I concluded that if you’re really going to experience a snail meal, you should order the pesto version. We also thought the apple pie for dessert was excellent. So, if you’re in Paris and want to experience French cuisine, the snails are definitely worth considering. Okay, that concludes our itinerary for today. Goodnight everyone, bye-bye!
