I’ve been after a decent rockhopper/stumpy from this era and picked this up last weekend. To my surprise it was mechanically immaculate! The original owner must have ridden it less than a hundred miles. Full Deore LX group back when a full group meant hubs too. Original ‘92 ground control tires that are still somehow super supple and even have the factory fuzzies on them. Bonkers. I plan to swap out the bars, pedals, grips and saddle, then add a front basket and this thing will be dialed! The jim black burn branded rack looks so friggin clean too imo.
3×7 never felt so good.

Great find. What’s the weight of the bike with and without racks?
The golden age of Specialized. Really, from the first Stumpy (1981-82) right through the 90s. Beauty of a bike you have there.
