Does anyone know of routes where they are located really close to airports and/or Amtrak, so you could basically get right off the transportation and get on the route? I think it would be really neat to compile a list, if it doesn’t exist already, of routes that are very close to Amtrak or Airports. This way you could hop off, ride for however long, even days, and then get back on the train/plane and go home or go to another destination.

Amtrak Floridian goes through Pittsburgh and drops off in the city center, you can ride the GAP and C&O from there to DC. There are several towns along the way that are also serviced by the Floridian (Cumberland, Harper’s Ferry)

The Erie Canal Trail runs alongside the Amtrak route for…I think the entire way. It was fantastic for logistics support

There’s lots of options in the PNW off the Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, and Cascades trains with connecting bus services to the coast and eastern OR.

Pittsburgh’s Union Station is 7min by bike from Point State Park, which is the western end of the Great Allegheny Passage trail.

Pittsburgh International Airport has a connector to the Montour Trail which connects to the Great Allegheny Passage trail. There’s a little bit of road riding and walking on this one.
