Join us as we take a day trip from Cannes to Monaco and spend the afternoon exploring one of the most glamorous spots on the French Riviera. We start by taking the train into Monaco and the first thing we see is the hop on hop off bus which turned out to be the perfect way to get around and see the main sights. I share some of the views and little facts along the way before we head up to the old town for a wander through the pretty streets. We stop for a drink and try some traditional socca before making our way down to Monte Carlo to soak up the atmosphere. Between the cars, the glamour and a drink at Café de Paris, it’s exactly what you’d imagine Monaco to be.

Throughout the vlog I share prices and tips so you can get a real feel for what it’s like to spend a day here. We end the afternoon with dinner at Quai des Artistes, a restaurant right on the harbour that I would definitely recommend booking ahead as it fills up quickly, especially with locals. Ryan ordered veal and I had a seafood mix with octopus and lobster – both of our plates were left completely empty, it was divine.

This video is packed with chapters, sights, food, glamour and plenty of useful information if you’re planning your own trip to Monaco. I hope it inspires you and gives you a taste of what a perfect day in Monaco can look like.

We thought we’d take you along to Monaco today. Money talks. Money talks, baby. Will we make the train? How long have we got? We’ve got 14 minutes. 14 minutes to make the can train from Can to Monaco. Hi, Cory. Cory. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] the train station just through there. I think we’re going to make it. We We made it. We made it. Yeah, we made it. And the time is 12:46. So, we’ve got till what time is the train? [Music] Afternoon, guys. Welcome back to a brand new video. It’s currently almost 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and we thought we’d take you along to Monaco today. We’re on our way. We’re on the train from Can going straight through to Monaco. We thought we’d jump on the train today just because it’s a little bit more stressfree. No driving, no parking, no tolls, and it’s also cheaper. So, for our train tickets, it was £55 return. £55 return for both me and Ryan. For anyone that’s new here, hello, welcome. My name is Fern. This is Ryan, my gorgeous husband of 20 years. 20. And this is my channel. channel. I make lots of lifestyle videos on here. Lots of fun, travel, family, health, wellness. I’m sure there’s something that you’ll love. So, please subscribe and stick around. Today, we thought we’d bring you along. We’re going to have a really gorgeous day. We’re going to explore the old town, check out the site, get some lovely food, drink, and of course, give you our tips, tricks, and knowledge along the way. So, enjoy the video, guys. We’ll see you in Monaco. [Music] Ryan, wait. Can you tell us a little bit more about the tickets and what app you use to purchase? Yes. So, I use an app called Omio. It’s like Train Line, but for trains all over Europe. When you open it up, it is super super easy to use. I mean, you just type in your destination, when you want to go, all the usual stuff. I book the away and the return. And the trains here are lovely, aren’t they? Double decker. Double decker. Nice and clean. They run like every 20 minutes along this route. So you’ve got plenty of choice if you are wanting to nip into Monaco from any of the villages or the towns whatever along the co as long as you’re on this train line. This actual train stops in places like Canis Nice all the way. And they run all day and do the same up and down. So, lots of choice. And it’s cheaper than driving and easier than driving cuz you can get to the town centers. You can have a couple of beers if you want, back on your train, back along. It is. Yeah. Brilliant. We’ve arrived in Monaco, guys, and it’s absolutely gorgeous sunshine. So much so that I really need my sunglasses. So, as I’m filming this video, it is currently I think it’s the 6th of September. Um, and the weather is just perfect. It’s probably my favorite month for weather on the Riviera because the temperature just drops slightly, but it’s still warm. There’s still people on the beach. It’s just much more bearable. We’re in like the 20s, mid 20s rather than the 30s. Um, but yeah, the train ride took just over an hour. Really pleasant ride. No changes. Straight through. And now we’re going to make our way to the old town, which is about a 15-minute walk from here. 1.2 km. Yeah. So, top tip, when in Monaco, wear good footwear. You want to be comfortable. You’re going to be walking a lot. There’s lots of steps. It’s very up and downy. So, I’ve popped my Vaya flat shoes on today. Um, but I’ve also brought a change in my bag as well, just in case because nobody wants blisters. Monaco city tour there. Hop on. Hop off bus. I do love a bus tour. Me and my mom did this in Paris. It’s a great way to see the city. Brian’s just checking the prices. Let’s just hop on, eh? See where it takes us. If we pass the old town, we’ll get up at the old town. But it looks to me like it’s facing the right direction. Yeah. So, what is it per person? Like €25 each. It’s €25 each. Yeah. And we get our little little earphones. Who remembers when I came with my mom on the bus tour? She had the earphones in and she was sat waiting for them to speak and she’d not even plugged it in. She’s going, “It’s not talking. Not working, Laura. It’s not working. We’re not saying anything.” So, we’re going to take you along and see the gorgeous sights of Monaco from the top of the bus, guys, on a little bus tour. Just plug it in. Oh, it’s quite loud. Got music playing at the moment. So, obviously this wasn’t part of the initial plan. We stepped out of the train station and we planned on walking to the old town but just happened to see the hop on hop off bus there. Can’t resist one of those. I do love a little bus tour around a city. You get to see it all and it obviously tells you lots of interesting facts as well if you want to listen. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I don’t feel [Music] [Music] [Applause] We are off our bus, the hop on hop off tour bus, which was lovely. And we’ve arrived in the old town of Monaco, which is just beautiful. Now, we’ve lived on the Riviera for six years, but we’ve never actually done the old town in Monaco, so this is a first for us as well. So, we’re going to explore it together, but it looks very, very polished. Now, I always love an old town in a city, and mostly because it’s like rustic vibe. Um, but this is just so prestigious and there’s no washing, is there? I don’t think there’ll be any washing hanging out the windows. There’s no washing hanging out of the balconies on the little washing lines, which is something I love, but I would imagine it’s against the rules here cuz it’s actually against the rules where we live as well. We live on the grounds of the chatau and um yeah, in the in the policy to live there, you’ve got to abide by the rules and we’re not allowed to put wash in like visibly. um on the front of the windows or whatever. Um so yeah, let’s go and explore. Imagine if we saw washing now. I know. I’d be shocked. Someone must be breaking the rules. Yeah. [Music] Oh. [Music] Hey. Hey. [Music] Oh yeah. Oh. [Music] Oh yeah. [Music] Oh. [Music] Oh, [Music] oh. [Music] Oh yeah. Oh. [Music] So this is actually like a bready kind of yummy. snack made out of chickpea flour. Pancake. Nice. Well, you just asked for soccer. No, you didn’t ask for any sides. Really nice. Is it really nice? You know what? Um like that Greek Greek yogurt with tziki. Right then, check in. We have been to the old town. We had a little drink. I had an iced coffee. Ryan had two beers. Wait, does beer and doo beer? A d beer. Sorry. Is that 12 beers? No. Does uh you say does when the next letter is a vowel. Sorry. So, you say Dong. It’s actually dubia because yeah um and he ordered like a little plate you will have seen of soccer to the table just a little snack um and that came to like 30 something really well priced and now we’re just taking a stroll towards Monte Carlo. So we’re going to see a little bit more luxury cars glamour. Um, but first of all, we’re getting a few steps in. Maybe we’ll jump back on the bus if we see it. And that’s the update. It’s been a lovely day so far. That’s the open air. Look, open air cinema there. Oh, yes. And tonight they’re playing the new Brad Pit F1 movie. I wondered what all the chairs were. Let me show you this quickly. I bet it’s really cool coming here to watch a movie. Yeah. Look at that. Monaco open air cinema. Look, the old cameras. Oh, wow. just through there. And they’ve got all the chairs out. And tonight, what’s the film tonight? Brad. Brad. If no one’s seen this, if you haven’t seen this, it is actually one of the best movies I’ve seen made in years. Really? Yeah. I don’t normally like movies anymore. I think, oh my god, same old. But this is really good. I recommend. [Music] Let’s [Music] get them Whilst we’re having a little stroll, guys, we have got some interesting facts, haven’t we? So, for all you factoids out there, fact lovers, bit like me, I love a good fact. I’ve uh I’ve gone in deep into the archives and I’ve dug out a few. So, Monaco, second smallest country in the world. Safest country in the world. Uh one of the safest countries in the world. Over 75% of the residents in Monaco are foreigners. Did you know that Monaco has its own language? Although they generally speak French, there is a a language called Monagasque. And only a couple of hundred people in the whole world speak that language. That’s really interesting. That must be a very very rich language to speak. Money talks. Money talks, baby. Anyway, the French and Monaco signed a treaty which means that if there are no heirs, sorry about that super car. The French and the Monagas signed a treaty. Oh yes, I like this one. Oh, she likes this one. Which means if the Grimmaldi family have no heirs to the throne, France will automatically become the owners of Monaco. I don’t believe that is ever going to happen. Not with the amount of children they’ve got. No. Cuz I checked after that. Yeah. There’s like 16 of them in line to the throne. And I think those 16 will have another 16 each. So yeah, I don’t think there’s any any and the the Grimmaldi family have actually owned uh Monaco since the 1200s. It was a pirate. Oh, really? Yeah, it was a pirate. It landed on the shores and uh took over And that’s it. Since then, Monaco history. History. I like a bit of history, don’t I? Loves his history. Did you know that there’s only 38,000 residents here as well? But it’s still per square mile the most congested country in the world. I didn’t know that. Thank you for the information. Yeah, there you go. I love it. Yes, we have that. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Dare I check in with you all whilst walking down stairs because I did this earlier and I actually slipped. [Music] Oh, great noise. Very risky. There’s lots of steps in Monaco. Lots and lots of steps. Oh, yes. Dangly one. I wonder if I can take a cutting from that. I do love my garden cutings and growing them from cutings. I think it’s the most rewarding thing. Look at this. Dare I take a pudding from Monaco? I mean, if I grew a gorgeous succulent in my garden, I could always say that it came from Monaco. Look, we’re outside the Monaco Kennel Club. Oh, Kennel Club there. Interesting. Wow. Whilst we’re on the subject of Kennel Club. On a previous video, guys, I did joke with you all and say that Sylvia, our little Chihuahua, is half cat, half dog, because she does look like half cat, half dog. Now, please, I know most of you will have known that I’m joking, but for that very small percent that thought I was actually being serious, I apologize. My humor can be really dry sometimes. I was joking. I know that half cat, half dog is not possible. And Sylvia is actually full breed Chihuahua. We’ve got the Kennel Club papers. She’s a full Chihuahua, long-haired Chihuahua. Some people believe that, did they? Some people thought that she was half cat, half dog because that’s what I said and they gave me the the correct scientific explanation as how this is not possible. I’m really sorry if anyone believed that. I was joking, but I’m not joking about the cutting. So, we’ve just been into Monte Carlo. We had a drink at the famous Cafe Deari. It’s a must. Um, it is overpriced there, but it’s worth it. You get such a lovely spot and you get to see it all happening in the center of Monte Carlo. Um, so that was lovely. And now we’re just walking to our restaurant booking. Okay, there’s quite a busy road. So, let me check in with you in a second. So, we’re currently walking to our restaurant reservation which we just booked whilst we were sat having a drink at Cafe Deari and we tried a few places actually and it’s rather busy this evening. We’re saying that it’s busy most evenings in Monaco and on top of that it’s also the yacht festival so it’s extra busy. Um, so we did struggle to get a reservation but we’ve managed to get one at le desertist. Leazartist It’s just on the port. So, it’s mainly a fish restaurant, but they do some other bits cuz not a massive fish lover. No. Um, but I am. And I’ll share what we get. Guys, if you’re hungry, go grab some snacks. Now, the restaurant actually doesn’t open till 7:30 and it is currently um quart 7. So, we’ve got a little bit of time. [Music] [Music] I don’t even know what you ordered. What was it? Um, looks like asparagus and ve. Did you order ve? Did you? It’s a good feel steak though. [Music] Is it slightly tough that? No. Nice. That’s feel. That is beef. That is a chunk beef though. How lovely. I’ve got to try it straight away. Oh my god. Nice. Really good. Yeah. You love ve don’t you? Try that. It’s a big jump now. Yeah. Wait till it comes. Wait till it comes. You’re going to chuck into yours. I don’t know how. Go for it. What is it? It’s a That’s octopus with some sea foam. should be. And then you’ve got lobster tail soulets. Yeah. Good. Try. You don’t mind. Nice. Nice. Oh my god. So satisfying. Wow. Look at that. That is a clean plate. I’ve even had to like shove the the shells around a little bit because it’s so embarrassing. It looked too clean. And look at Ryan’s. Did you enjoy that, sir? Any complaints? No. I mean, you couldn’t possibly complain, could you, when you’ve done that? That was amazing. [Music] scenery, drinks, gorgeous, gorgeous food. We’re satisfied, aren’t we? Very. If you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to leave a thumbs up and most importantly subscribe so you never miss another one.
