If it was 13 speed then it was either SRAM, xplr or campagnolo. Either way, neither of these will accept an 11-speed Shimano cassette. So yes, you will need a new freehub body. From the manufacturer who made your hubs. Sadly freehub bodies are not universal. Depending on a myriad of factors, it may also come with a drive side over lock nut or spacer. Don’t know cuz I can’t tell what type of hubs those are nor what your free hub actually used to be.

  2. What is the model of your hub? It is usually relatively easy to swap freehub bodies as long as the manufacturer provides them, which really depends on how old your hub is.

  3. Freehubs are not universal, you need a specific one for your exact hub model from your hub manufacturer

  4. Are you sure it was 13sp? Those are pretty new and limited to SRAM XDr & Campagnolo N3W freehubs (either of which you could probably sell to off-set the price of your freehub).

11-speed should be good with an HG freehub body. Use the part number from your old freehub and from your hub to figure out the correct freehub body for your hub.

Ignore any freehubs you see that are XD, XDr, Microspline, or Campagnolo; none of those will work with the 11-speed groupset you are looking to install.

Also, you may need a thrust washer/spacer on the axle, did you remove one when you removed the original freehub body?
