Isopropyl alcohol, a good rag/plastic scraper, and a good hour or so. A beer can’t hurt either.

  2. Rub the bulk of it off with your thumb, then you can remove the residue with rubbing alcohol or olive oil.

  3. Alternative: Pick what you can off with your fingers and install the new tape over whatever’s left

If it was wrapped properly there shouldnt be any residue left. Since it was done wrong take a putty knife to it carefully you can also use goo gone on it to make it come off much easier.

I recently filled a bucket with very hot water and soaked the handlebar to soften the adhesive. Then, I went to town with a scratchy rag.

  6. Fill a 5 gallon bucket up with hot water and soak for 10 minutes. Use an old plastic card like a credit card and scrap off most of it.

I had some very nice Zipp bar tape and it was an amazing pain to remove.I now only buy bar tape that doesn’t stick and have been happy with Shimano’s pro tape at $20.00 or so. It’s really good for the price, stays in place and is easy to remove with no residue.

    YMMV.
