I saw this thing on Amazon, helps you to put your smart watch on your handlebar. I have a coros watch that I like to use for running, and I cycle 1 time a week on the weekend so I feel that buying a cycling computer might be overkill. Maybe this is something to consider? Does someone have any experience to share with this?

It would not be my first choice, personally, but I’ve seen these in use before and they seem fine for people who use sport watches and are runners (or hikers or swimmers) first.
If you dig it, go for it. The system works as intended.
I used one for my Garmin a few years ago. I found it more of a pain than anything else and quit using it.
It did hold the watch securely.
I’ll probably get downvoted but if you don’t need turn by turn navigation, and you don’t have a power meter, a cycling computer is pointless.
Just wear your watch. You can look at it whenever you want.
Eeewwwwwww brotha
You do you.
I think a better question is “how do YOU feel about this?”
Why do you need the advice of the herd to know how you should feel? Think for yourself!
