Well, temperatures topped 30 Celsius again in both England and Wales today with forecasters predicting tomorrow will be the hottest day of the year so far. Do you have a uh a license for fishing? Yeah. That’s the problem you’ve got when you get foreigners turn up here. Dead bream just down here bellied up. There’s another bream just down here. Hey mate, how you doing? I’ve just spotted a couple of foreigners tented up. The aircraft [ __ ] With the warm weather forcing most fishing clubs to close their river stretches due to persistent heat and low water levels, I decided to visit the river and observe the conditions firsthand. It was yet another warm day, though rain was expected shortly. Well, as you can tell by the name of the video, it’s pretty much self-explanatory. The trend is pretty much, I’d say, 90% closed. All the fishing clubs are closing it down. The levels are probably the lowest I’ve seen them. So, I thought, you know what? I’m going to come down, have a look on the river. I’ve got about seven or eight miles of bankside I’m going to cover. Going to have a good look around, see if we can see any fish, and go from there. Really. Well, I think first things first, we’ll have a look at the wear pool just further up here. See if we can see any signs of barble and then go from there. Like I said, we’ve got a good few miles to cover. All right, we’ll come up to the poolool just up here. And this is where most of your fish are going to be. The most oxygenated part of the river. Well, it’s a beautiful day. It’d be nice to see a few cart knocking around here as well. You get all sorts up here. It’s good for Xander fishing, cart fishing, but like I say, it is members only up here. There’s no day tickets. So, I think it’s going to be 28 today. 29. So, still mega warm. There’s been so many lakes closing. They’ve lost loads of fish all over the country. It’s always the case. Every few years you have a extreme wave of heat come through and then it just literally makes life so difficult for fisheries. End up losing carp. barble fishing. I don’t even bother fishing for him when it’s that warm. [Applause] [Music] Morning. [Music] Yeah. You caught anything. Really? Any big fish? No. No, just small ones. So straight away, that’s the problem you’ve got when you get foreigners turn up. And I’m not being racist or anything, but when they turn up, they’ve got no guarantee she hasn’t got a ticket. She shouldn’t be down here. So that’s another reason I want to come down here as well. I’ll report her. I’ll bring the club up in a minute and let them know because she says she had some small fish and it looks like she’s going to be eating them as well. Now, I tend to keep myself to myself. I don’t get involved too much politically with things like that. I mean, it does uh it does annoy me, but I have to bite my lip because it can either go one way or the other with me. So, [Applause] Someone pivoted up over there. I thought that fishing club had stopped the fishing. Could be wrong. [Applause] I could be wrong. [Music] Here we go. What we got here? This is a very popular section of the Trent. These pegs here, first two or three, maybe four. Get some really nice fish from there. You tend to find the car patrolling these margins along there. And further up, that’s where your barble fishing starts. If I can get down there. I’ve been down here for years. I don’t know if it’s blocked off or what. No. No. We can get down here. That river is looking nice. River is looking nice. I haven’t seen any fish bellying up yet, which is good. Can I get down here, or is it a dead end? This might be a bit dicey. Yeah, I’m not too bothered about going down there. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Now, this is a very used to be a very popular area for fishing. You’d always see the carp tucked away down here, just swimming along these reed lines. Some really nice read lines just down here. And you’d always see the car patrolling the margins all the way along and all the way down here as well. I don’t know if the camera will pick this up, but the the water’s jing clear. You can see every speck on the bottom. And I always used to come down here having a little look around for for pike and all sorts in the winter time when the levels were fairly low through winter. and you would see them just slowly coming through all tucked away in dead reed lines and you got Canadian palmweed, blanket weed and all sorts in this section. Then you’ve got the bridge just there which is quite popular for people. And then that’s club run all the way along there what I’m a member of. But so far so good. We haven’t seen any dead fish. I was worried like mad that we turn up have a look can there just be loads of fish bellying up and all sorts. I know certain sections have lost a bit of fish. That’s why a lot of the places have closed down. You’re right. Do you have a uh a license for fishing? Yeah, you do. Are you a member of the club? Yes, that one. Ah, the fishing license. Okay. How much is it to fish on here? They are not members. They haven’t paid to fish here. And if me, I could be ary with them, but I’m not going to. I’m just going to get reported because all she kept doing was showing me a fishing license over and over again. I says, “How much is it to fish here?” “3 £37.” I said, “No, that’s your fishing license.” So, yeah. I reported in a minute. Don’t want fish being took out the river and used as uh as food. Want to try and save them as much as possible, especially this time. I’m I’m sure you can’t fish down here. I’m sure they’ve closed it off, but I could be wrong. There’s been so many clubs shutting down. Some may be open for the next couple of days, but I’m looking on Facebook and every 5 minutes, one club after another, all the pesctorial waters, district angling places, they’ve all closed down. So, she didn’t look very happy. [Music] Let’s have a look here. You can see all the blanket weed. Oh, is that a Is that a dead fish or is that a life boy? Yeah, dead broom. There’s one just the camera will pick this up just down here bellied up in the margins. You tell it’s a slab. It’s just when you see the big specimen size fishing like the pike or the big barble. That’s a massive massive dish. But any fish really. I mean it’s it’s not nice to see them bellying up like that. And it is a river. You do lose a certain amount each year. Have a little look along here. [Music] Yeah, there’s a there’s another bream just down here bellied up as well. So, a couple of bream for a section that’s a good few miles long. That’s not bad. That’s not bad at all. I It’s never se never nice seeing a fish dead, but I was expecting to come down and see a lot more. All right, let’s shoot down to this middle section and then we’ll have a have a look down there for 10 15 minutes. Well, this section seems to be still open by the look of it. There’s a few cars to my left and right, and I think somebody’s actually fishing down there at the bottom. So, I’m guessing that they might close this down in the next couple of days because looking on social media, all the clubs are shutting down for the foreseeable future until we get some weather kicking in. Yeah, I think there is a few anglers on here. I haven’t looked at this fishing club’s Facebook yet, so [Music] I think a few of these swims are data kit and then you get to this field and it’s members only. Some nice spots here for pike fishing as well. Right, I’m going to get stung like muddy. I can see it. Hopefully you can get through here. Sure, mate. [Applause] Cheers, mate. Thanks a lot. Well, I was hoping to go a little bit further, but there is a bit of a gate here that doesn’t allow bikes to go through, which I’m guessing is to stop people biking across the field. So, I’m going to buy by the rules. It is members only anyway, but from what I’ve seen, couple of dead bream. I was expecting a few more to be honest, but other than that, the tren’s looking not too bad. And there’s been probably five or six anglers fishing on the day ticket section. So, I’m guessing that this club is still open for for the time being. I know just about every other club have closed it down. So, that’s my bit of a wrecky dum. It’s been nice to get up there. I will report the the foreigners that were fishing up the top on the bend. I’ll have a word with the baiff in a minute and have a little chat with him and then we’ll uh we’ll go from there. Regarding fishing, I don’t normally like to be out when the weather’s like this because certainly not on the rivers. That’s why all the clubs are shutting because they want to protect the fish that they’ve got. So, I am going to have a little bit of a think, do a little bit of planning and then we’ll be out soon. I can see it. There’ll be a few venues that I’ll find where fishing won’t be too bad and we’ll be able to get amongst some. But other than that, that is pretty much it. That is the end of the wrecky. I says, “Have you got a license?” They went, “Yeah, yeah, we’ve got license.” They showed me the license. Says, “Are you a member?” They went They went, “Yeah, yeah, we’ve got a license.” And they just kept showing me the fishing license. Yeah. Cuffy.
