~3,400 km | 32 cycling days (plus a few rest days)
~108 km/day | ~34,000 m climbed | Longest day 179 km
Highlights:
- Following the Elbe
- Lakes in Austria
- Island hopping in Croatia
- Many older Mediterranean men gifting me water and fruit along the way
- Rest dips in the ocean
- Mountains of Montenegro
- Swiss Couple in a van giving me a cold beer at the end of a big climb in Albania when I was feeling super flat
- Macedonian Borek
- Roadside Mercimek Corbasi in Turkey
- Traffic weaving & the final boss (entering Istanbul)
Lowlights:
- Austrian farmer kicking me off his field before sunrise
- Phone breaking after to getting caught in big rainfall in the alps
- Roads (or lack thereof) in Montenegro (never ride to Podgorica, nightmare material)
- Dogs in Greece, until I got my airhorn.
- Only 2 good days of tailwind , but many more of headwind.
- Bora crosswind with 70km gusts in Croatia knocking me round.
Overall amazing time, thanks to those I met along the way and helped me!
