The day started like being on a log flume with this monsoon rain. So, we’d rest accordingly. Mama rapid grow. Fueled now by Vietnamese egg coffee. Basically a dessert in a cup. It had quickly become my go-to drink, but I still do have a soft spot for that grapefruit rattler. The humidity was absolutely brutal. And when you’re gasping for air, you get a puncture obviously. So, I took Sanctuary on a petrol forkourt. took advantage of the shade and had a nap. The landscape now was absolutely unreal. I kept wiping the sweat out my eyes just to take a double take. Having Nick alongside now really helps with the early sunset so we can shine a light on the road and on my spirits. Nick’s traveled Vietnam before, so he’s got great suggestions where his next one is going into the mountains. So I battled up the final mountains as Nick went ahead to get us checked into the guest house. And it did mean I could call him a few names out of earshot. Go to Fong Nai. He said, “Beautiful in the mountains.” Bloody better be. Adventure destination, Fang Na. The reward, getting to go and see some cool caves tomorrow. Which means tomorrow I get to tell my favorite joke. You’ve been warned.
