    Swap meet find $400 how did I do?

    This is my first road bike so I have extremely limited knowledge but I have lots of experience with vintage cars and motorcycles. Looks like Campagnolo Nuevo record gearset, Campagnolo front and rear wheels, very true, Cilo reynolds 531 frame, weinmann vanquier 999 brakes. I’ll be looking for some new tires and a chain and I will see about adjusting the gear set

      Cool but I feel you over paid a modern road bike on the cheap end is about 600. I’d have probably paid maybe 150.

      So-so. Honestly, it’s cool for a collector of vintage bikes, but not a great deal for something to actually ride. It also clearly needs a full overhaul including tires, plus the grease has likely congealed and needs replacement, so you’ll need to repack the wheel hubs, headset, bottom bracket, and maybe even the pedals if you plan on keeping them. I don’t know what you mean about “adjusting the gearset,” they are friction shifters. The only thing to adjust is the limits.

      Also, it kind of looks like they may be tubular tires? I’m not sure. But if they are, good luck; as replacements are expensive, difficult to find, and difficult to install.

      Long story short, its a very cool high-end old bike, but you’re going to have to spend at least another $200 just to get it rideable, and that’s if you do the labor.

      Contrary to the others in this thread… This looks like an incredibly well maintained retro bike. Honestly i think you did alright price wise given its not a showpiece thats gonna sit around. Go ride it and enjoy it. You’ll eventually get the bug and snag a newer, maybe carbon bike and you’ll go even faster. But in the meantime, this machine will make you incredibly happy. Enjoy!

      Only asking because I KNOW this bike. The dude behind you, Edgar, he was polishing the aluminum rims yesterday in his garage full of bikes/bike parts, and just vintage crap, my dad is friends with him LMAO. What a small fucking world..
