Hi there, first time trying to true my own wheels, I see very little wobble at the rim but a lot on the tire tread, is this a tire issue possibly? And is this tru enough to be fine to ride?

Haven’t got all the parts yet to test ride so this question is out of my curiosity to know before the build is done and see if I need to bring it to my LBS.

Thank you!

Info: 20 inch wheels, 2.2 inch MAXXIS DTH

Truing – is this good enough?

  1. Ok, for starters you tyre isn’t seated properly. Deflate, spray some soapy water around the bead, and then reinflate beyond max inflation by about 10 psi.

Looks like the tire isn’t seated correctly. Try deflating the tire, spraying some soapy water between the bead and re inflate to max pressure. The rim looks true enough to me.

  3. Looks like the tire isn’t sitting in the bead properly. Is it inflated to the correct pressure? If so, you might need to use some tyre bead lube to help it into place.

  4. I don’t think it’s been mentioned before, so here goes, your tire isn’t seated properly.

  5. Rim.looks good and true, but your tyre looks off. It might be that it isn’t seated properly, but it also might be a manufacturing defect (if its a Maxxis tyre they are known to be poorly manufactured and sometimes off like this)
