“We want all Palestinians to have the same equality to life, justice and freedom that is afforded to the rest of us.”

Michaela Rafferty from Cycle for Palestine Ireland joined other members in Belfast on Saturday for a special event aimed at showing solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Saturday’s cycle started at Writers’ Square at 11am and involved people of all ages.

Um, hi. Yeah, my name is Michaela. I’m one of the organizers with Cycle for Palestine Ireland. Um, we’re part of an all Ireland cycle club called Black Wing and Sunbirds. And we use cycling as a form of protest to raise the voices of Palestinians, the voices that have been silenced, intentionally silenced globally. and we try and call for the end of the genocide to happen immediately. The uh Palestinians who have been dis displaced in inside and outside of Palestine to for their right to return um and for all Palestinians to have the equality to to life to justice and to freedom that is afforded to the rest of us. So we are cycling here today in Belfast and we also have friends who are cycling in different cities across Ireland in Dublin, in Cork, in Galway, in Dracula. Um and then across the water in England, Scotland and Wales too. We’re part of a a bigger global movement that supports Gaza sunbirds who are a part of cycle team on the ground in Gaza that uh deliver aids to where and when they can. Um a new cycling as as a form of protest out in Gaza as well. We cycle monthly here in Belfast and we cycle the third Saturday of every month. We do a cycle normally around 10 to 15 kilometers around town. We change the route every month to try and spread the awareness. We bring Palestine to the streets remain people. The Palestine should be at the forefront on all of our radars.
