Hey everyone,

I've been using a 30 year old MTB (a loyal Norco Mountaineer SL) as my all-in-one bike for the past 3 years and I think it's time to upgrade, as my usual riding really fits more in gravel then mountain biking.

I'm really prioritizing comfort over speed, and need something that can work well on roads ( as well as the forest (light trails)

I've found a nice deal for 1600 euros on a Specialized Diverge Expert Carbon from 2018 (specs), which would also come with a Roval C38 carbon wheelseet. This bike has an (old non-lockable) FutureShock suspension which seems nice, even though I've learned to do without suspension, so not a deal breaker. It does have a nice (maybe even too much) relaxed geometry from what I could see, which may fit my use.

On the other hand, for roughly the same price, I've found a 2022 Giant Revolt 2 fitted with a 2025 Revolt 0 frame (carbon). The geometry is a bit more aggressive, and it comes with the stock 2022 wheelset + some thicker tires, has a bigger gear range (2×11 vs 1×11). and tyre clearance (53c vs 42c)

The Giant is a little more well preserved, as it comes with new chain, brake pads, handlebar tape, etc, but the Specialized is not far behind, as it's only done a few hundred kilometers per the listing and basically looks as good as new (I'll have to check in real life).

To compare geometry of the two frame : https://99spokes.com/en-EU/compare?bikes=specialized-mens-diverge-expert-2018%3B*z.58cm-700-700%2Cgiant-revolt-advanced-0-2025%3B*z.mdlg-short-700-700

What do you think ?
