The challenge was to complete the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycling route, covering 130 miles (209 km) and climbing a total of 12,000 feet (3,650 meters) over three days, from Workington to Tynemouth.
The C2C is one of the UK’s most iconic cycling challenges, offering an unforgettable adventure across two of the country’s major mountain ranges. Along the way, we encountered stunning landscapes—woodlands, pine forests, lakes, streams, and moorlands—connecting the Irish Sea to the North Sea.
Starting in Cumbria, the route led us through the northern Lake District, where we conquered the Whinlatter Pass. The journey then took us into the Pennines, including the formidable 4-mile ascent of Hartside Pass. Finally, we descended into County Durham, following a scenic converted railway path, before arriving at our destination in Tynemouth.
