I deliver for a job in an area with a white 50% or less demographic. Here is my take: however small this is it’s nice to sometimes have a conversation or a simple interaction and most of the people i deliver to don’t say a word not even thank you they open the door put out their hand and shut the door. Many barely open the door, just enough for the parcel to fit through. When it’s a flat (I get this every day) they won’t buzz me in unless I say their name so no chance of them taking a parcel for a neighbour which is a friendly gesture and what most brits would happily do. It doesn’t feel very nice and comes across as rude. It’s not everyone but it’s a high proportionate. A lot of foreign nationals come here only for work, they send money home and call it home when asked and a lot say they will leave here later because they’ve bought cheap land from their home country. It’s money leaving the nation, this isn’t their “home” and for me that says a lot. = my experience a lot of the time
