Hello, I have some credit to spend so trying to get a bike if possible. Been doing a lot of research and visited a few bike shop (Rei and two local; since i don't have a firm target, i was really just looking around; no test ride.) With the amount of bike out there, it is not easy to make a decision. (Ie, i just found out last night that some bike doesn't come with pedal).
I've had big store mountain bike 15+ years ago from Toys r'us so not exactly new in biking but new in the new era of bike shopping. As far as my target, I am mainly looking to ride around my neighborhood or to run errands (no actual plan on usage beside fitness) so I am set on getting a hybrid with flat bar that is around $1000-1200.

- Drawback – Some reddit post suggest the U4000 might not be good. Also saw a review suggest front derailleur jam so wonder if there is reliability issue with Giant.

- Drawback: In comparing to the fast road, things are lower grade(maybe?) and heavier. Also require to my own pedal. But it is cheaper.

Most of the link are from Mike's due to free shipping and assembly. Mainly looking at new bike instead of used. Prefer big brand but i am open to other suggestions.

I’ve just moved from my 20 year old mountain bike to a Specialized Sirrus X and I’m really enjoying it
I’d get one of the Cannondale bikes, but at REI. No shipping and tune up’s and support at local brick and mortar store. Looks like better price. One Cannondale has 2x chainring ( I like those), other has 1x and an integrated system with front shock fork. I’d go back and try them both and pick one up.
I have a Giant Fastroad AR 2 exactly like the one you linked to. It is a 1x drivetrain, so there is no front derailleur. I have had no issues at all with the rear derailleur. The Shimano Cues is quite smooth and robust. The gearing might not be low enough if you live in a hilly area, but it works well where I live.
