Just a PSA to share, if you are looking to buy the EZ Clamp Spring for your Bromptons so it is easier to fold/unfold your Brompton on the handlebar stem and frame, it is worth it to pay MORE to get the original EZ Clamp Spring, see link below.
In the photo attached, showing 2 pairs of the Chinese Clamp Springs, I did not know the difference and bought some Clamp springs from the Chinese website and the clamp springs were a very hard material which ended up damaging the paint on my hinges when used. I quickly stopped using them.
When I put it on my hinges, and closed them, it ended up not closing all the way in and the force required (2 fingers) caused my paint to chip/come off a bit on my new Brompton at the Hinges where the plates touch/tighten.
I was so sad to see that happen.
Please do yourself a favor to avoid what happened to me by buying the original EZ Clamp from the UK, as their EZ Clamp Spring has a softer material and bends more easily when tightened. Not sure why it is called EZ Clamp Spring when there is no spring included.
The original EZ Clamp Spring UK just works and does not cause damage to the paint on my hinge contact points when tightened, and is easier to loosen/tighten due to the softer material compared to the Chinese versions I bought.
Hope this helps other future Brompton owners who do not have the self aligning hinges (T Lines and new P Line Electric released in October 2025 have self aligning hinges I believe) but want the convenience of the EZ Clamp Springs.
Here is the link again to get the original ones (not sponsored), just happy with their product!
