The Tissington Trail runs for 13 miles from Parsley Hay in the north to Ashbourne in the south. Not only a brilliant bike ride or perfect setting for a leisurely stroll, the Tissington Trail has a fascinating history. Once the railway line between Buxton and Ashbourne – and even a supplier of milk to London – there is real heritage below your feet.
We set off from @ashbourneheightsholidaypar5833 where we were camping and the trail starts right next to the site, real easy access. And we followed the path down to Ashbourne town. It took about 1.5 hrs (with a 6,7 yr old). And was a joy to ride, all down hill on a well kept trail. The way back was all uphill so the kids weren’t so impressed with this.
A fantastic bike ride for a young family. The trail is huge, we only covered a small amount. Fully recommend.
