Just now getting into biking and I bought this vintage Schwinn le Tour as a starter bike. It still rides quite well, but I do need to give it a tune-up and some repairs and am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Right now my plan is to disassemble the bike and clean each component before putting it back together. I have found several comprehensive guides for Schwinn le Tour repairs, and I feel confident in my ability to follow them step-by-step. I want to keep as many original components as possible, but I do need to install new brake cables and housing, as well as a new seat. I would also like to replace the existing tires with some more gravel-friendly tires for light bikepacking/touring.
I am looking for general tips on where to begin/what to look out for. Does this seem like a good plan? Am I missing anything important? Like I said I am brand new to this stuff so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
