Hello all,
Every MTB helmet I've been able to try on in local shops (various models from Fox, Smith, Laser, Abus, Leatt) all feel like they sit too high/perched on top of my head. There's a noticeable gap between the top of my ear and the start of the helmet (like in the attached pic).
By measurement I'm 59 cm, so at the top of the general "medium" sizing and at the bottom of the "large" sizing. In some size "large" I'm on the last click of the fastener at the back, and in general the "medium" I have tried fit better but my head just doesn't feel like it sits deep enough inside them.
Has anybody had similar issues? any brand that are noticeably "deeper"?
thank you!
Pic is Smith Forefront 3 size M.

Troy Lee a3, certain POC and Oakley helmets
Unfortunately I can’t remember the ‘bad’ brands (maybe some under the Giant brand umbrella?) for me but I had this issue with lots of the brands in my LBS.
I tried other retailers with different brands and found Giro helmets fit my head shape better. I’ve stuck with them so far for that reason. I think I do have a Specialized brand (Bontrager?) one prior to the Giros so they have a similar fit.
So, try other brands if you can. They each definitely have a shape they target, you just need to track down your match.
I got the same issue, A Troy Lee FlowLine helmet has been my go-to.
