Story: I recently sold my MT-03 and bought this MT-09 — my first real “big bike.” I wanted to make this video as a memory of that moment.
I still remember riding my little 125cc Honda PCX, dreaming about getting a proper manual motorcycle one day. My heart was set on a Ducati Monster, but I kept searching for its “Japanese equivalent.” That’s when I discovered the MT series.

One day, I passed a service shop and saw the bike — my future MT-09. I turned back, stopped, and when I learned it was for sale, I couldn’t resist.
The moment I heard that single-cylinder 660cc engine with the LeoVince exhaust roar to life… I knew I had to buy it. I didn’t even have the license for it yet — but I needed that bike. About a week later, I could finally take it home. By the end of our very first ride, my hands and legs were shaking as I got off the bike. I felt the exact same way when I first rode the MT-09 — unbelievable torque, unbelievable sound.

In my opinion, there’s a huge conceptual difference between the first- and second-generation MT-03, so I added a short comparison section at the beginning of the video. Manufacturers just don’t get that kind of creative freedom anymore — everyone plays it safe, which means less experimentation. I’m grateful that I got to ride this urban beast powered by the XT660R/X supermoto single-cylinder engine. No ABS, no traction control, no fancy electronics — the perfect bike to learn the fundamentals and truly feel the limits.
