i would probably go with the spezialized and would start slowly upgrading the parts starting with the fork

my buddy has the rockhopper and he loves it, commutes on it daily to work about 15 miles since he doesn’t have a vehicle and has no issues. he has probably put over 10k miles on it, bike packs with it and all.
