Nice weather in Washington DC today, so I took my C line and the dog across the river for a ride through Rock Creek Park from Takoma Park to Georgetown.
After 3 miles or so, the right shifter was periodically uncooperative when downshifting from 3. It felt like there was resistance, and that I couldn’t get enough travel to get to that click stage. After a few tries, it would generally work. However, at about the ten mile mark, it was happening both from 3>2 AND 2>1, and tended to take much longer to get back to behaving. I had a couple dodgy near incidents as a result. It’s the first time this has ever happened, and it’s pretty low mileage (secondhand, but I’d call it less than 200 based on the tires and brakes).
I was too tired to put it on the stand and troubleshoot by the time I got home, but did a few searches on the train ride back to VA and didn’t find anything that looked quite like the same symptoms. Any ideas?

You need to adjust the length of the cable slightly, at the sight chain into the hub. See the manual for the procedure.
