I got my Cube Nuroad SLX on last week's Thursday and drove 42 km on Saturday which was managable. So i figured, I'd try 100 km today. I packed a bunch of Haribo candy, filled up my two bottles, and planned a route that would involve visiting two friends in two different cities to take breaks. And somehow, it actually worked out. Now I'm pretty exhausted, but also really proud. I had planned the route so that I could easily take the train home after 60 km. But I wanted to make it – and I did!

Initially, I planned to not exceed 150 bpm (hr-max seems to be at 200). But I was not able to drive slow enough for that, which I feel a bit stupid about.

I am happy.

  1. Nice ride! Don’t focus too much on heart rate when it comes to comparing zones to other people as everyone is different. Find what works for you.

Some pro cyclists comfortably sit at 170+ for hours whereas others sit at 140 etc etc.

For me personally for example my max is 190ish but I can comfortably sit at 165-175 for hours on end and feel fine.

  2. Congrats! I am a runner, snowboarder, I go to the gym and I know my limits in all of these. Three weeks ago i bought my first gravel bike and i honestly don’t know if 20km is a lot, 100km is unbelievable or anything. It must feel so good you reached 100 km, good for you!
