What’s going on everybody? Funky Psychics here. Welcome back to the channel. Thank you guys for joining me. Today we’re going to be taking a ride into Lousern, Switzerland. It’s a really beautiful city. Got a little bit of history, too. Nice historic district. So, we’re just going to be checking some of those things out. Hopefully to get a couple shots of the area as well. See you guys in a little bit. Today, we’re starting our ride on the Sabborg Strasa. Heading to the old town Lucern, a popular historic district. Lousern is one of 26 cantons in Switzerland and one of 13 Swiss canel capital cities that share the same name as their respective canton. This city like many others probably displays their canton flag everywhere and as you travel through the area you’ll be able to see them on official buildings, on homes, on license plates is a real sense of pride in the local community. Spanning the river Royce are the two remaining historic medieval bridges. The Kappa Brooker or Chapa Bridge and the Spurbrook or Chaff Bridge not only are popular for the medieval architecture, but these bridges are adorned by a cycle of paintings and a triangular roof trusses. The world famous Chapa bridge features panels commissioned in the 17th century to illustrate Swiss history. After a devastating fire in 1993, this illustration along with twothirds of the bridge were destroyed. It was reconstructed within 8 months and remains a highlight for millions of visitors every year. Just downstream, the Chaff Bridge holds a powerful and sobering collection of 45 dramatic paintings reminding us all that death is universal. The third historic bridge, known as the Court Bridge, was the longest of the three. Unfortunately, it was dismantled in the 19th century to make way for the city’s modern waterfront. The alt sty or old town of Lucern is a historic area surrounding the bridges. and includes wellpreserved medieval architecture, painted buildings, historic towers, and narrow streets creating a walkable area full of significant landmarks. And if there’s one thing that draws me back to historic cities like Lucerna to preserve locations and architecture personally, I can spend hours discovering old buildings and museums. This is the type of discovery that’s a big part of my life, and I really enjoy sharing with you guys. If you’re interested in history and amazing places like this, please let me know in the comments. A few miles from Oldtown is the Louven Dickmon or lion monument completed in 1821. This amazing sculpture of a dying lion was carved into the rock face in memory of the Swiss guards who got the tulerice palace during the French Revolution. Right on the edge of the river, we have the Nola Tower. This tower is part of the Muse wall, an 800 meter long wall erected around 1,400 to protect the city of Lousern. With its nine towers, the Muse is the best preserved defensive wall in Switzerland. Located less than 60 mi from Zurich, this city is well known for its glacial Lake Lucern. Fed by the River Royce, this lake is a popular attraction for tourists and locals. Similar to Lake Geneva, one thing that really stood out to me was how clear the water in Lucern was. The clarity and beauty of Lake Lousern stems from its excellent water quality. Many of Switzerland’s lakes and rivers are fed by glaciers which act as natural water filters. As the glaciers melt, they release water that is locked away for centuries. Free from modern pollutants. This process contributes to the clarity and purity of Swiss water bodies. High water quality standards are enforced across the country, ensuring minimal pollutants, creating their signature blue hue. The views of these amazing rivers and lakes in addition to the dramatic surrounding mountains really contribute to the scenic beauty and are just a few more reasons to love Switzerland. On the right is Bonhaf Lusern, a major hub of the rail network of Switzerland. This terminal station serves domestic and international traffic on several rail lines situated right in the city center and on the south side of Lake Lucern. The Lucern Culture and Congress Center is also located here. This complex includes a concert hall, art museum, conference facilities, and restaurants. Cultural events and the Lucern Festival are held here annually. Like many European cities, Lucern is bike friendly with ample bike lanes and parking. If you’re looking for bike rentals, the bike shop Bike Local is a great choice. They provide basic hybrids to elite road options. The staff is friendly and very attentive. If I ever come back to the city again, this definitely going to be an option for me. And on my way back, the views from the lake were just gorgeous. There were people just taking walks. There was others on the benches just enjoying the view. You can tell this is a real popular spot throughout the year, especially in the warmer months. Riding in this area of Lousern, there’s no significant elevation, making it easy to explore and discover the sights of this amazing city. Bike lanes and signis makes navigating this city a breeze. Like many European cities, Lucern embraces a bike culture that promotes fitness and environmental conservation. The beauty of Lucern is hard to put into words. Packed with history framed in stunning natural landscapes, this city is a must if you’re visiting the beautiful country of Switzerland. Thanks for watching the fourth video of this series. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. Stay tuned for more amazing rides on the way. See you all soon. Be safe and take care.
