Slimming the fold – G-Line – It won’t work?

I have seen other posts on here from users who have adjusted the locking ball or used a third-party adjustment kit.

I picked up my G line yesterday (it’s electric, but surely that doesn’t make any difference?).

With the ball removed the closest I can get the handlebars to the fork is 40 mm. The restriction seems to be the stem hinge. What am I doing wrong?

Or is it because it’s a small? I chose this Over-the medium because I was happy on both sizes, I wanted to fold the small as possible with the less bent stem.

Any ideas?
