Didn’t crash luckily. Back wheel locked up and I skidded to a stop. There were two police officers stopped and talking around the corner at the school I was passing by. I asked if they had a ratchet to take my back wheel off. She didn’t have one big enough so she brought me back to my house to get one, back to get my bike, and then back home. Luckily they didn’t say anything about it not having brakes… my cranks feel weird now and I’m hoping the bb didn’t strip and mess up my frame..

Foot smash+!!!
Yikes, I had my rear hub blow out going maybe 20. Scary stuff.
How do you think this happened? 🙁
Glad you were okay!
Glad you are ok.
Glad you’re ok, be sure to inspect the drivetrain before you get rolling again, was the chain tension loose?
That’s crazy!
Damn bro, do you have chain tensioners? I’ve had that happen on a couple occasions when I didn’t have chain tensioners on mine. I’m glad you’re ok though cause that would’ve been some gnarly road rash
I had the exact same thing happen to me doing maybe 20km/h on a flat road and had to drag my bike to a nearby lbs to get the wheel realigned. I had replaced my chain earlier that year and must have miscounted links when i was matching it up with the old chain because I just had way too much slack and would constantly drop my chain. Haven’t had that issue since taking out a link and tightening up the tension, may be worth trying the same
When you’re peddling that fast your chain is going to bounce. Tighten up your chain. If it’s getting loose > tight > loose, you need to “balance” your front chainring. Take the chain off the front chaining. Loosen the chaining bolts. Take a zip tie and attach it to your seatpost, long end just touching the chainring teeth. Lay the bike on its side and slowly spin the crank, you’ll see the chaining move ever so slightly towards and away from the zip tie tail. Tighten the chaining bolts when it is perfectly centered. Ride safe mate.

i know what happened to you and no one has mentioned it in the comments
that usually happens because a hub bolt isn’t tight
Don’t think this has anything to do with your cranks or bb, and i don’t think it’s from having a fat chain with a skinny cog. I’m guessing your axle nuts probably weren’t tight enough based on the pics and description of how it happened. I first thought maybe chain too loose but that wouldn’t make your wheel move like that
Edit.. also wild that you just asked a cop for a ride and they did it 😆
This used to happen to me a lot because my rear wheel would slip towards the front. Either tighten the bolts or get the screw that stops the axel from slipping forward
Had this happen on a 3×1 setup once. Ripped out both derailleurs and shredded the side of my tire – pretty frustrating
