Hello. I’m in Poland outside of Little in Vocal. I think that’s how you say the place. Uh, which may seem like a bit of a strange place to start a bike packing trip, but there’s a reason. It’s about 300k from Dresden and I’m heading there for the Bespoke Handmmaid show. So, I thought I’d take the chance to get a ride in. Never been to Poland before. And um, yeah, head through the hills and the mountains and into Dresden. So, here we go. So, the rout’s about 300k. That’s just under 200 miles. And um it’s going to be predominantly road. Uh but I’ve tried to sneak in a few little grally sections where I can. And the first part is going to be pretty flat. But after about 100k, I should get into the I guess the hills um and head towards the Czech Republic, which hopefully I’ll reach tonight. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. So, off the flats, just starting to sort of do the smaller hills and um yeah, the rain’s caught up with me. got away with it so far, but it looks like it’s going to be this drizzly light rain for the rest of the day. So, I done about 40 miles. Um, going to rain for about 100, 90 or 100. I’ll just see how it goes. There’s quite a few options for accommodation in the mountains. So, just play it by ear really. It’s all very nice and autuminal. Although in my head I had that it I had the idea that it would be uh nice sunshine and golden leaves, but you never know at this time of year. But yeah, it’s uh pretty nice. I had no expectations of Poland having never been here. And um yeah, so far it’s pretty good. Roads are nice. Nice little off-road tracks and uh traffic’s fairly quiet. But yeah, bigger climbs coming up now. So, um, see if the weather holds or not. Don’t think those solar panels are working today. Heat. Heat. Oh, this is all very nice. Rain’s not too bad. Going to stop now. It’s just a bit a bit dank, but it’s not really cold, so that’s the main thing. And um yeah, currently following this big river valley and approaching the main climb of well the main climb of the day and of the roots. I think there’s a bit of off road on it which should be good and that’ll take me sort of up and over the sort of mountain range and then down towards check Heat. Heat. N. Hi. Yeah. Well, I think I’ve just passed into the Czech Republic, but uh I didn’t see a border sign, but it I think it’s slightly different on the language on the signs. It’s definitely raining more anyway, but um yeah, only sort of 10 15 miles an hour. Hopefully less than an hour. and I can get get dry, get some food. So, made it found the uh hotel. Um there’s a restaurant downstairs. I can get some food in a minute. So, it’s 105 miles on the clock today. That leaves me about 85 tomorrow to Dresden, which is what that’s 135 40k. Um so, yeah, rolling terrain tomorrow. Today’s route is pretty good. I just put in my GPS and see what see what came out and it was decent on the whole. Um not too many big roads and then tomorrow um well crossing a lot of borders. So I’m in Czech Republic at the moment and I crossed back into Poland then back into Czech then then finally into Germany um on a route that um I did some of before on Bohemia border bash event a few or last last summer. So um yeah it should be good. So see you in the morning. All right, day two. Here we go. That’s the hotel I stayed in. It’s about That’s about 85 miles, 130 140k to Dresden. Forecast is rain for the morning at least. So, yeah, better crack on. Losing myself Heat. Heat. Heat. I don’t want to let go. Sun’s coming out. All right, this is the section I’ve been looking forward to. So, uh, heading into I think it’s the Bohemia National Park. um Bohemia Switzerland National Park I believe and um I’m on the route that I rode last summer as part of the Bohemian Bohemian border bash camp and um yeah should be little bit gravel a little bit of road um so I’m currently still in the Czech Republic and um yeah I’ll be heading into Germany uh and then yeah once I sort of get into Germany I be heading sort of down the river valley towards Dresden Yeah. Heat. I don’t want to let go. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. All right. So, that’s me and Dresden. Just need to get to where I’m staying. But yeah, it’s been a good ride. Looking forward to two days at the show and nice to get my legs moving again after a month or so off after hours out of. So yeah, thanks for watching. Don’t forget the bike check in a few days and catch you all soon.

  1. It's so cool to see my little home town in all the cycling news outlets and now even on Youtube. Definitely have to be there next year, it looks like such an amazing fair.

  2. Fun to watch especialy because I rode the BBBR a month ago so I reconised a few sections out of the race 😀

I wonder how do you rank the BBBR the route compared to other races as a hard race route? It is my second race I rode. and next year Im gona ride 3 more races.

  3. Tedious question, sorry…when you fly with your bike do you do the cardboard box method or a bike bag/ box and put that in storage at the airport??? This issue has stopped me flying with my bike, aswell as the risk of damage!!! Great video once again, thanks Josh!

  4. What are recommendations for the best jackets for these conditions? I have very thin breathable ones in which you get bit damp – or thicker more impermiable ones that keep the sweat in! Any suggestions?

  5. It looked a lovely route even on the road sections, with hardly any traffic. Great way to get some off season training done, without the dreaded sleep deprivation of racing!

  6. Mate, you gotta give us a heads-up next time and stay in Wroclaw – we have a couple hundred adventurers in here and it would be cracking to meet you. Cheers! @BikepackingWroclaw

  7. lived in Wrocław for 10 years before moving to Scotland. nice to see you enjoying that part of Europe 🙂 and yeah, you were nowhere near with the pronunciation, but it's rare that anyone is 😀
