First of all, excuse my English; I'm not from an English-speaking country. I'm salvaging this wonderful Peugeot (with the gearbox in the frame), and when I took apart the front axle, I realized it was broken (no idea how it was still running). I started measuring and saw that the balls appear to be 3/16" (do you agree? Measurement in a photo) and the axle itself appears to be 7mm. I also lost a ball during disassembly (an hour of my life wasted searching for it without success).
The question is, is it worth it to find an M7 threaded rod and buy another ball (this would be ideal for me, since the bike is a family bike and I'd like to respect its functionality as is)And, where could I find a 7mm rod? I've looked, and practically everywhere they are 6mm or 8mm.
If anyone knows where I can find a solid axle in those sizes or an alternative to one, that would be great. If the alternative involves saving the rest of the wheel, that's also super cool.
Thanks a ton.

your local bike shop should be able to help. If not, there are some on AliExpress, that should work fine, just make sure to change all balls for exact same dimensions and not just replace the missing one.
Where are you at? In Europe you’ll find a brand new set at sites like Holland bike shop etc. The whole axle with new bearings. Just the balls can be bought there too in sets of 10-100. AliExpress, EBay etc sells this too. Try to figure out what wheel you have (should be stamped somewhere) and search for a matching set. Or just by a set of balls.
Dont know about the axle. What i do know however, these bikes have the atom hubs. A quick search let me to several ebay listings. Both used and NOS. Biggest chance of finding a original is there
