Everyone knows about Cannes, St Tropez and Nice… but in this video we’re going to take you to several beautiful French Riviera towns that you’ve probably never heard of. Fréjust finds its roots in Roman times and today vestiges of the past can be found all around town. Meanwhile the sparkling Saint Raphaël is much newer but is just as beautiful.
This travel guide will show you the best things to do in Fréjus, top attractions in Saint Raphaël, and also take you to lesser-known gems such as Cap Dramont and even a local vineyard!

[Music] with its Sparkling Waters Pastor hued Villages and abundance of History the French Riviera is world famous and in this video we’re going to take you to a lesser known area of the district including to the towns of Fus and San rapael welcome to fru this town was established by the Romans during the first century Common Era as a naval base though no one knows the exact date that it was established it was actually founded by Julia Caesar as Forum julii which means the market of Julius and it came to be known as fru around the 4th Century today it’s home to lots of Roman ruins as well as medieval ones and we’re also really close to the Sea as we’re on the French Riviera so let’s go and see what this town has to offer the Roman Theater of fru dates all the way back to the first century though it wasn’t actually excavated in modern times until the beginning of the 20th century today a new structure has been built on the foundations of the old theater and so regular performances take place here throughout the summer as you can see there’s not much history to be seen here so it’s completely free to visit during the week although fru advertises itself as having a lot of Roman history unfortunately some parts of it are really not so well preserved for example this space is actually on the site of a former Roman marketplace Forum area and to be honest it’s all kind of just being laid out in concrete how it would have looked in the past but there’s not much history to be seen now one of the most interesting things to see in fu is a cathedral complex this actually dates all the way back to the 5th Century when a cathedral and the baptistry were built later on in the 13th century the CL were added and they’re very unique in that they have painted ceilings depicting everyday life as well as fantastic Beast they’re really well preserved and are actually studied because of how well preserved they are there’s also a medieval Museum here but that’s a separate entrance unfortunately this whole area you do have to pay for it’s €7 but you’ll get to see the beautiful cloister as well as the cathedral [Music] the whole cloer complex is truly stunning and I recommend setting aside between half an hour and an hour to visit the whole thing soak up the Ambiance and read all of the signage [Music] as I mentioned the cathedral itself dates all the way back to the 5th Century and it’s widely considered to be the oldest Christian structure in [Music] Province the streets of inner fruse are honestly pretty lovely and so one of the best things to do here is simply to stroll around and allow the town to reveal itself to you I don’t recommend more than like maybe an hour here because there’s not a great deal of things to do but after you finished wandering around then you can go and sit in square in front of the cathedral soak up with the views and do a little bit of people watching [Music] we’ve just driven around 15 minutes down the coastline to reach the stunning Port Town of San rafhael this town is best known for its oldport as well as its beautiful basilica [Music] the most impressive building in town is the Basilica which is dedicated to nraam de la VTO and it dates all the way back to the end of the 19th century it reminds me a lot of the sakria in Paris [Music] although fruse and San rapael are only 15 minutes away from each other they feel W apart whereas fruse is very old and historic San Raphael is more modern and was only developed after the 18th century today I really recommend visiting both whereas you can go to fruse to experience the history and a little provincial town you can come to Sam rafhael to have a drink by the Sea enjoy the beach or simply admire all of the amazing yachs parked in the harbor here [Music] cap dragon is a beautiful Headland around a 15minute drive away from San Raphael although it still considered to be part of the commune here you’ll find an amazing Lighthouse at the top of the hill some beautiful nature and Views onto L door which means the golden aisle since the 19th century this has actually been privately owned but you can still admire it from afar as well as fuse onto the glittering golden sea [Music] [Music] [Music] if you have a little more time while in the region I highly recommend checking out one of province’s most famous exports I.E the local [Music] wine during Peak tourist season many Vineyards actually have opening times where you can just turn up and try the wine for yourselves if you really like it then you can get a bottle to go home as a souvenir or for your dinner that night [Music] thank you so much for watching and don’t forget to like And subscribe for more France travel content see you next time bye [Music]

Hey there,
Thanks for showing this as an offbeat option for retirees. I saw an affordable long term let online also. 👍🏻
I live in Fréjus since….well…since I'm born lol !
It's hard to me to understand why you think this city is beautiful.. Maybe it's because I'm living at Fréjus since a long time but I'm tired of my own city lol, I don't know why this city would be that special but I like to listen to the opinions of others who don't live here.
Should have shown more of Frejus port and harbour, lots of great shops and restaurants there and great views.
Video for tourists. Frejus is not what people say.
